Take photos of your car/door -IF you had hit him & caused THAT much damage surely your car would be damaged as well? If you can show it isn't then it would weaken his claim. Maybe get a paper today & try & get the date of the paper in the photo as well. Also, as stated above write down everything you can remember and file it somewhere safe. Any CCTV in carpark?
TBH he's probably trying it on.0 -
Call his bluff, probably a chancer0

I dont advocate this but I always park away from stores where possible because I am sick to death of brain deads who dont give a flying !!!! about other peoples properties
Look at these cars parked

To be fair, If I could afford that kind of car, I'd pay for 2 spaces and park like that to avoid the potential cost of repairs/devaluation from having a door edge-to-door panel hit.
I wouldn't use disabled/family spaces though0 -
I dont you can pay for two spaces, and if you could that doesn't stop some people parking right next to youTo be fair, If I could afford that kind of car, I'd pay for 2 spaces and park like that to avoid the potential cost of repairs/devaluation from having a door edge-to-door panel hit.

he was sat in his car heared a bang and thought ill sit here i have no time to look while the wife takes the trolly back, but found the time to seek you out in a chipshop. wow he's on a tight schedule.
my suspicion is that his wife walked past said theres a slight dint on the door, and he said oh must of been that woman loading her car just now and came to seek to get cash of you.
ive been my car in a car park and had a door tapped against mine and the first thing you do is get out and inspect it.
he's having a laugh ignore it till you hear from insurers. get evidence of no damage to your car. sit back and relax.0 -

I park right away from the store, if it's not a busy carpark I take 2 spaces, if it's busy I aim for an end space and park right over to the kerb.
I don't drive a particularly special car, but I do look after it.....
Nothing annoys me more than finding new dents on it from careless people ramming trolleys into it, running handbag buckles along it (very common actual cause of "keying" damage) and slamming doors into it.
I have in the past shouted down a woman I caught trying to push a trolley down between my car and hers.
Who are the worst offenders of door dings? Young children and old people, the former don't realise what they're doing and the later just don't care (because they're old and think they're invulnerable).
I've actually seen an old women repeatedly slamming a door into the side of a car, almost as if they disapproved of their parking when in fact it was the OAP who parked at 45 degree's and left no space.
Anyway, back to the OP subject.... This guys is gonna end up paying more premium on his insurance next year, than the damage could possibly be worth, so he's a bit of an idiot for chasing this.

He can do nothing without these . I would however report it to the Police with whatever details of him and car you have as an attempted intimidation offence. He is probably trying it on with other victims.
Not so. You can pay the MID £3.75 to get insurance details of any car just from the reg. I recently did when someone knocked me off my bike.
Whether he will know this I do not know, and whether he will bother doing it through his insurance company is doubtful.0
