I've got an Odyssey drycell in my play-car.Not recommended for everyday use but being drycell its safer if you relocate it inside the car and is half the weight of a standard one.Its a bit of a pain really as they don't hold charge as well as a normal one so its forever hooked up to the c-tek.
Not cheap either at around £100 a pop.0 -
The most economic battery you will buy is a £10 - £15 from a scrap yard they will last upwards of 2 years (in general). I bought my current one a year ago. And the one before that was working for 2 years but I laid the car up for over a year and killed it off just before scrapping the car.
Biggest problem with that is finding a car breakers these days. My most local 1 closed last week, about the tenth to go in this area. Guess people don't like grubbying about in the mud like we used to do.
(All gone to small housing developement in this area)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

You go in to reception, tell them what you want, then sit there and wait while the part is retrieved for you.Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0 -
Environment agency is responsible for shutting most yards,(they stand behind their badges on a chain, extendable so they dont throttle themselves when they are going through their office doors, in air conditioned, govt building paradise)and lay down the you cant do this cant do that rubbish. wh Well lets be honest they really only want to shut them down because their little baby will get a brand new vw fox when she leaves university because shes mummies special and these scrapyard places are only for lower class people who shouldnt be seen or heard (there was one of their type in the supermarket trying to use cash the other day, well the till assistant just didnt know what to do)
i feel better now got that off me chest:D0 -

Yep there's probably some mileage in that, but for me:Afolks have become more affluent, yeah?, if it breaks then buy another?. Old cars are now very cheap.
Please don't think I subscribe to this. IMHO the goverment scrappage fiarseco was unforgivable, paying the owner to throw away perfectly good 10 year old cars?????, mechanical genocide:mad::mad:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

100% agree. Everything is now more expensive as a result now as well, and in ten years' time the only runarounds available will be poxy little Fiat Pandas and the like.0 -
On the question of batteries is the battery required to start the engine, or to power the caravan electrics? Motorcarvans are often fitted with 2 batteries, one for each purpose.0
