Three months on the market is not over long, especially on houses in this bracket. It seems you wanted this for £30k under asking price. £30k is a lot of money to lose in anyone's book.

Bit confused, was the asking price offered?

£30K on a £600K house is only 5%. Anyone refusing an offer at 95% of advertised price, and then refusing an offer of 97.5% of the same, needs their head looking at - particularly as the buyer is ready to proceed with their own house under offer.

    I'd walk away.

Move on...an idiot stays a idiot.
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.

sorry, if i offended anyone here.. maybe 'greedy' s bit strong word. and to correct, we're only 15K under their asking price, that's 15k out of close to 600k range. so i think anyone who's reasonable and geniuely want to sell would consider seriously!.

btw, we're sellers ourselves! and we accept similar discount from our tiny price range. What i am not convinced is that they compare theirs to a house very different longs and shorts, like comparing a mango to apple, and you can't say, that mango's expensive, i like my apple, i should sell my apple more than mango. Well, someone just like Mango perhaps.

Anyway, we'll see how the final offer goes. !.
    Thanks everyone!

Problem is they know you really really want it and they feel they can just squeeze you for the extra. And if you are saying you had to accept a similar discount; tough they will not. Personally I would walk as this situation bodes trouble throughout the whole process as they will feel they have the upper hand.

Do you want the place enough to spend another £15k?

Greedy is fine to use. We have a decade of house price greed which nearly brought the western world to its knees.

Some sellers are slower to catch on what's happening, their loss not yours. Look else where and get a better property for your money.

If you like it that much then offer more, if you're not really bothered then don't.
They arn't really being greedy, just trying to get the best offer they can. Similarly you're not either and are looking after your own interests.
If it's going to be your forever home i'd personally just pay up and get moved in and start loving my new home.

I never understand why buyers got so upset and angry that the seller refuses their price offiered, they are entitled to say no like you are asking below the asking price.
