It's an 05 plate with 17k on the clock, owned by an old boy who's giving up driving. He's had it from new and been serviced every year lately by a good independant garage. With 11 months tax and ticket, it's a good spec car with leather, seems to drive ok so I think I'll give him the grand he's asking for it.

    Buy it.

    End of message.

    Isuzu Trooper for one...

It's going to use more fuel, it's going to be much less fun to drive on the road, and find one that's done £17k miles driven by an old boy.

"Will the fact it's an auto cause any problems?[/QUOTE]

More likey the fact its a rover will cause problems but if its cheap enough buy it and when something big goes wrong throw it away.
I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling ;)

Sounds a good buy to me, Rovers really arent that bad and with that sort of mileage your laughing, The only problems you tend to get with older drivers is they rev the crap outta cars but being an auto theres no problem there, I would say go for it :-D
I dont have to show riches, To pull up, Pull of with some bad b*tches, It's about my persona, Aint nothing like a man that can do what he wanna

The 75 diesel is a great unit, its BMWs diesel after all and can be tuned with a ronbox for not alot to increase fuel and performance. Auto box can be an issue with the 75 but if its been correctly serviced you should be fine, just check it throughly. As already said its a hell of a lot of car for 1k. There are a few other issues to check for like making sure the plenum (SP?) drains aren't blocked as that will kill the ECU, head over to mg-rover.org where you will get some great advice and what to look out for.

As for an isuzu trooper, that made me fall off my chair in laughter, you need a grand to just run it for a month. Great if your a farmer wanting to chase sheep round a field but for everyday driving on UK roads its pointless.

    Good luck

And for a grand it'll look and drive like the sheep had the better of it.
