Item sent to wrong address

I never get asked for ID at my sorting office, even though there is a sign saying ID needs to be shown! I just give them the card and they go and get my parcel.
The same happened at my sorting office earlier this week. I just handed the card over and wasn't asked for ID. They just assume you have the card so it must be your parcel.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Paypal is apparently the best to open a dispute with, if the seller won't refund without you opening a dispute. A good seller would, she made a mistake & it's her responsibility to get the goods to you, have you actually asked her if she will refund you, this should include the p&p that you paid.
eta, I just find this whole thing a bit weird, that a seller sends to the wrong address, the delivery office allows a collection to take place without proof of id, to a dodgy householder who would go to collect something that isn't addressed to them & then keep it.
I have read that some offices will allow collection by people with just the card, I've used 2 offices over the last few years & neither of them will, even the one where they knew me by name & I was often served by next door neighbour.0 -
She said to go and ask the lady for the item back and if she won't hand it over then theres nothing that she can do about it, so I will need to open a claim for inr, just hope that the actual address it went to is checked when they are given the tracking number and they don't just glance at it and assume it was delivered to me.0

I would definitely open an INR asap & put in the dispute that the seller sent to the wrong address.
If they find in her favour appeal.
Her c0ck up her responsibility, it isn't up to you to track down post that she was too stupid to address correctly. Maybe it was sent to a friends address by mistake?0 -
Have opened a dispute with paypal, the only address she was given was via ebay/paypal and has been the same registered address for years. Am ruddy annoyed because it would have only taken a few seconds to double check the address was right and because that wasn't done, I will have to wait for my money (and it wasn't cheap!).
When should I escalate the case with paypal? its says I have 20 days to do it but if I can escalate it now will that speed up my refund?0 -

I find it rididulous myself, the only other theory I can think of is that the delivery van guy spotted the !!!! up thought he would take advantage but the chances of that are miniscule. The householders behaviour just goes to show how people will take adantage in any way they can. Personally hoping they try to resell it locally or even on ebay so I can pop round there again, as its quite a unique item so the chances of them genuinely having one to sell are very remote.0 -
I'm not sure about when you can escalate, it should tell you, do ensure you put in the dispute that the item was sent to the wrong address.
Is the tracking showing on the RM website yet with the address, I'm not sure what actually shows up, whether it's just the number & a signature or an address as well.0 -
It just says 'delivered from **********office 26/05/11 and says to keep checking every 24hrs for more info.0
-
RMs system doesnt show the delivered address
infact the explicitly dont want it to show
thats why staff should never put the address on the paper signature sheets0 -
Maybe the householder didn't realise it wasn't for her when she went to pick it up, the cards we have been left don't always have a name on them. Doesn't mean that once she saw the wrong name on it that she should have still collected it though of course. Hope you get it sorted out quickly..0
