How about registering with one of the agencies on island to see if they can find you something even on a temporary basis.

Your background is financial services so you may find that at this time of year holiday cover is required. Even basic admin might lead to full time if the Company like you.

With the cost of living in the CI, you have to accept that the bills will rise all of the time e.g. fuel costs will continue to rise because of the economic situation in the middle east and everything has to be brought in to the Islands. Finding a job to up the income is a priority even if it covers the grocery bills!

Your 1st SOA states roughly £1700ish mortgage but the second states on £700ish?

The mortgage is £1700 ish, but we have 2 seperate mortgages on two rates - one tracker and one fixed, so I listed them seperately on the link and when they did the calculations it came out with one mortgage, then the secured repayments really high as it included the second mortgage.

Ok, its better than the original one, and you've done some brilliant cost cutting, but for the moment it needs to be drastic measures, even just short term.

    Need to find £400 pm.
Entertainment (was £289) needs to be £140 - saves £149
    Sky - (63.83) even half is being generous £30 - save £33
    Haircuts (£45) needs to be £30 - save £15
    Groceries (£450) start at £400 - save £50
    Th
THats £250 saved with a few strokes of the pen as they say. Ok that leaves £150 pm, -
Ebay, boot sales, consider some mystery shopping, surveys, clicks. Every extra penny will help.

Thanks for the advice. Me and OH have discussed and have made significant savings - around £550 pm which includes most of those you've mentioned above. We are also going round the house finding things for a car boot and there is some furniture we don't need that is just taking up space so gonna sell that as well.

Apologies, just caught up with the rest of the thread, that is brilliant news with all the changes, and that you now have OH on board, what I would suggest is get a notebook and put in the SOA that you have done, from the start, and redo a new one showing all the differences, - by having it wrote in a book it will motivate you both, as he will be able to part of it, (even thou u've done all the chopping and changing)

List your outgoings, I'd also suggest a once a month review, not a heavy going discussion, more a chat over a glass of wine, and you can check, the figures, it may not be the 1st month, but maybe the 2nd your find that there is a "free amount" and yes whilst it should be going on the debts, maybe once in a blue moon use that as a treat, I know it may seem like the carrot and the donkey, but what ever method works.

Good luck, be following your diary, (if u don't mind)xx

Sounds like a great idea. We have started listing our spending and with a new month about to start it will be really good to see our exact spending. Hopefully we will find that we can cut back our groceries even further.

The plan is to register - I had been hoping to find something without going down the temp route as I would prefer to have more stability, but I now realise that this is not an option, so as soon as half term is over I will register and hope to have a bit more sucess in finding something. Anything will do at this stage!

    Xmas Saver!
Sparkerly, you've made some brilliant changes, - cna't believe how much you have saved not going to the gym and on insurances.

Hope you don't me being cheeky, but your doing wonders, some people will do an SOA and not want to listen to help and advice, I know your literally opening your life up to us, but boy you have gone ahead - my nickname for you should be taz - as in the tazmanian devil, you have gone through your SOA like a whirlwind.
Your an inspiration to people, as you had a big chunk to "find", but you've tackled everything with grace and poise, and hubby should be very pround of you. x
