Plusnet for BB and phone - any problems?

We are with Virgin and the bill seems to creep up every month! I'm on the 3 for £30 bundle - Bband TV and phone. The last bill was for £55 which for what we use I feel is rather steep.

I'm looking at switching to plusnet but need some sound feedback both good and bad before I take the plunge!

Any info appreciated.

Been with plusnet 2 years for broadband, no real complaints.

Always UK call centres, 5.99/month (my exchange is market 3), decent service most of the time, quite good online management of your account.

Had a bit of a job getting them out to fix a fault on the line (made me jump through 1000 hoops first) - but I think most broadband providers would be the same.
  • I left Talk Talk to go to Plusnet and I think I can recommend them. There was a bit of a hiatus soon after I joined when "someone" entered a wrong digit in my account number when setting up the direct debit. They have a strange habit of sending duplicate emails every time they contact you so I was up to !!!!!!s bow in emails before it all got sorted. I wrote about the problem on this forum when it got to the point of having two parallel customer service tickets running one saying I had paid them and one saying I hadn't. Someone called Mathew who is a Plusnet rep read the problem and fixed it within minutes.

The thing I like most about Plusnet is that there is no download limit if you download between midnight and 8am. There is a limit if you download during the day but if you choose the right package even this is generous.

Despite all that I have no reason to put anyone off Plusnet because they have served me quite well in the months I have been with them.
It's not my fault your honour, they made me do it.
  • I was with Plusnet for years with no issues until I had a drop of in speed - their support was useless, to the point I migrated elsewhere (now with adsl24 for broadband - phone is with uniworld).

They even managed to !!!!!! that up - deleting my account before the transfer date - I will never entertain them again.

But this is like lots of these type of things -they're great while then are working!

If you are on VM cable service then you will first require a BT line install or reconnection in order to get Plusnet (or indeed any other ADSL provider), there are no other national cable providers than VM.
Plusnet Value is a good budget service, but it's capped at 10GB per month.
If you are on a £30 tariff but paying £55, then that would indicate that you are on the wrong phone tariff for your usage, presumably you need to be on an Anytime tariff to give you unlimited daytime landline calls.

I have had plusnet for 7 years and do recommend them. They are the less expensive and more efficient twin brother of BT,. I had a problem with slow speeds and you are stuck in a trap between the line provider and the internet provider. Plusnet kept on the case for some weeks and eventually sorted it. I would highly rate their UK call centre, Check out the provider comparison on "thinkbroadband" and you will see customers highly rate them

I'm sure there was a deal floating around that you got the first 3 months free.
