Car Tyres Help

Yes they are supply only -- I'm fortunate enough to have a friendly mechanic who'll fit my tyres for a fiver a corner, which makes deals like this worthwhile.
But regardless, £40/corner should be the mark for decent mid-range, and probably less if you shop around.0 -
Weell Blackcircles and mytyres are normally about a pound or two more than my usual place.
As such i have not bought from either but they get good reviews as far as price goes.
I think it needs to be remembered that older cars will unusual tyre sizes, compered to cars these day, i found this out when pricing tyres for my mates Cavalier at Costco, the size was 175/70/14, the price was something like £80 a corner and they had ro be ordered!0 -
I notice that mytyres have a discount thing going -- so budget tyres for the Matiz start at £25.46 (East European tyres). Subtract 3% TCB cashback and that's £24.70 each. Even if you pay £12 for fitting that's still pretty cheap.0

Indeed, not a bad deal even paying for fitting.0

If you are planning on paying to get tier one tyres - then Costco may be your best bet (they do Michelins only) and they fit also.
If you are going for budget, try Lassa, or Courier (Bridgestone and Pirelli value brands respectively), Kuhmo are also supposed to be good for the price.
I'd try some of the Stapleton owned tyre chains - STS, Central Tyres etc. Generally I've found the work fairly good, they constantly have offers on that make them cheaper than the local garages, and they don't get paid in a way that gives them an incentive to rip you off.0 -
Costco now do a small range of Continentals. Don't know what sizes though.
Even if the size you need is a weird one you can order them at Costco, takes about 3 or 4 working days.0 -
I looked at Camskill earlier and noted that even Continentals are £40 for the size the OP wants. Supply only but it'd be churlish to buy anything else at that price.0

Hi, I have got some secondhand tyres, does anyone think it would be a problem to get someone to fit these for me? Like a local garage? Thanks0

You'll get different answers on that.
It'll cost up to £10 a tyre at a decent fitters, and they should have a look at them to make sure they're ok.0 -
I'm going to put my head on the block here and say that tyre speed and load ratings are a bit academic for everyday driving.
They are interlinked - the speed rating is the maximum continuous speed at the maximum load per tyre, and vice versa.
You'd need a weighbridge to check your tyre loadings. You can only ever do 70 (OK, 80 before the m-way patrols are going to bother with you), and how often do you have the car loaded to the roof? So, tyres with a low speed code of T (118mph) and load code of 73 (365Kg - and don't forget that's per tyre) are going to have more than enough "in hand" to cope with normal motorway driving.
Obviously, a higher rating is nicer, but that tends to come at a price. If you are lucky enough to find two suitable tyres at the same price and one has higher speed/load ratings ... no brainer. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0
