You need to aim for what is realistic - there is no point aiming for DF by 40 if that is unachievable and you feel a failure and give it up. So if DF while 40 is a more realistic aim, then that is what you should go for!

An extra £1000 is quite a lot! DF while 40... I like it!

  • Thanks for the sound advice - DF while 40 (and onwards) it is then...

  • Right - I'm happy with the more realistic idea of getting to DF whilst I'm 40. I've had some exceptional expenditure this year (which if hadn't happened I would be DF now) but the phrase 'money well spent' is a complete understatement.

Apart from the new sofa - which is being replaced in a couple of weeks (grrr!)

Things at work are a bit tight at the moment, but I'm sure things will work out if we press on :)

The BiL-To-Be and his girlfriend came down to visit last week between trips to London and it was brilliant to see them again.

Got to get some work done!!

  • Narked because I got a late fee on my cc - I paid on the payment day by debit card, but they've credited it the following day - grrrr

At this rate I'm going to end up with late payments all over my credit report.

I think the problem has come about because my new cards have a different set of payment dates to my old ones, but I'm still in my old 'payment pattern' - I'll set up some reminders to remind me properly :) (it's so easy, but also so easy to put off!)

OH's birthday today, so going out shopping (I must resist new ipod... i must resist...)

    Right - back to work!

Happy birthday to OH, and glad you had a good time with BiL the other day.

Grr to the late fee - any chance you can ring up and pleade blonde-ness (!) and be very apologetic and see if you can get a refund. If you promise to be a good boy and not be late again they may be nice to you.......you could even offer to send them jaffa cakes - it would work for me :p

Have a good day (and nice to see you back here!).

  • mmm jaffa cakes, now you're talking.

You're right (as ever!) - I'll have a word; it worked with B'Card the last time this happened.

Have a good day too - how could I stay away?! (the hint worked!)

Hiya! Well, df by *now* except for exceptional expenditure sounds pretty good, you know? So you're sure to do what you're planning. And the phrase "back to work", when posted at silly o'clock, says that you must be working pretty hard! Bummer on the late fee, tho, I hope you get a good result on the pleading. Keep posting (no hints here, I don't do hints.... :D

PS - what was the problem with the new sofa?

  • Hi Hypno -
You can run but you cannot hide
My hiding is probably better than my running these days...

Hi KC - thanks for the 'hints' too. I like getting up early and getting on with some work in the knowledge that I'll have few interruptions - unfortunately, I don't get to sleep during the daytime. A siesta would really suit my life-style.

The new sofa has a bit broken inside (technical description!) which means the back flops back a bit when it shouldn't. We are getting replacements in October, and then we'll work on some compensation :)

Sounds like you've been getting lots of home improvements under way KC. I've managed to put up 1 shelf today after clearing out the 'airing cupboard' looking for ebay-able stuff, but finding none. Ho hum, at least it's a start. I'll go and buy some more wood and make some more in the week. Need to make better use of storage space.

Gradually getting more baby-bits (if you see what I mean) - had a play with the pram the other day; only around the house though.

I'm thinking about going back to circuit training. It has been such a long time since I've been - that's when I was living in my overdraft(s) and the £3 seemed an extravagance. I'll mull it over tomorrow.

Money-wise, the DF is ebaying as usual, and we're looking to put some items on Amazon - to see how that goes, now that ebay is a bit annoying these days. I'll also be knuckling-down to get snowballing properly... I see how 0% deals work now - basically you step off the gas a bit and whammo, the 0% period is over.

Good night to all you DFW-er's out there and have a good week!
