Private parking ticket scam

Options
One of my firm's drivers was parked on some private land but there were no signs displayed to prohibit parking. He returned ti his vehicle to find a so-called PCN on the windscreen. For some reason he was not convinced of its leagality, and he was right to be so. The contact address and telephone number did not exist and the only way of paying was by credit card. The company, (I can't remember the name), is not registered with Companies House and there is no trace of them whatsoever. So, be careful. If you get a ticket on private land, check that the issuing company is kosher. This looks like a new scam, you get a ticket and just pay it, also giving your credit card details out!

Always ignore private parking tickets. They are not enforceable.

Its not a new scam, private companies have been doing this shi te for years !

You dont have to pay private tickets at all even if you think you were in the wrong, they are unenforceable in law, so completely ignore them and under no circumstances contact them.

Probably the land owner or some local busybody.... You can buy "starter packs" for those tickets online. Just ignore them.

See the parking sub forum - virtually every thread concerns exactly this.

How have you managed to find your way here and post this without noticing the large section of the site and forums dedicated to this?

  • I don't think that many are getting the point. I think this outfit was merely trying to get credit card details.

    Quite possibly.

Although I'm sure you take others' point that any private ticket - kosher company or not - should be ignored.

So he knew it was private and just decided to park there and you're whinging because the landowner is probably sick of people doing that.

Going on the fact that you seem miffed by getting a ticket for trespassing, you'll have no problem with me dumping my car in your front garden then?

I don't think you're getting the point. Your driver was TRESPASSING.
