burgess hill bought by wickes!!!!
they sold the stores to B&Q, wickes and B&M then the management were loking at a buy out on the remainder. this fell apart a couple of days ago hence the rest of them looking like they will be closing completely (unless of course they can find another buyer). staff will lose their jobs unfortunately
B&Q are saying that staff can re-apply for jobs but they arent going to keep them on. wickes say they are keeping all staff on but i suspect this wont last long as traditionally wickes operate with far less staff in store than focus do
hth
Any ideas on Littlehampton (West Sussex) Focus store? - will this be Wickes too?0 -
hailsham will be a wickeslife is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0

hopefully reductions be quick coming as people not spending money on this, i do feel for the staff though.0

littlehampton not bought by wickes, could be B&Q but unlikely as most of those were in devon and dorset (sorry dont have the B&Q list)
plants supposed to be cheap (poss 50% off) from tomorrow. other stuff will gradually go down over next 6 weeks or soWhen you know better you do better0 -
Apparantly my local store, Newtown in Powys Wales will be closing and could be as early as this weekend. Don't know why B&Q or wicks couldn't take them over as we have no other DIY store in town. The nearest is Shrewsbury, 40miles away...0

Evening all,
OK so many wonderful theories on discounts and closures many of which brought a smile to my face after yet another stressful day at work.
Anyway, the liquidation sale starts tomorrow on ALL stock. Ranging from 10% up to 50% off of marked prices. I'm sure this will change fairly frequently from what we are being told.
So preparing for people moaning that we haven't reduced stuff by enough or we don't have the item they want. Basically there is no closure dates as of yet for any of the stores. Stock will continue to be sent into most stores from our central warehouse until it has been emptied then stores will close as and when stock is gone. Selling to ZERO and stores totally cleared is the message so we shall see what happens over the coming weeks. My guess would be we will see the final FOCUS store close in somewhere around 8-10 weeks.Arise Sir Martin Lewis :money:, For services to the Great British public.
