So why do you keep telling us about yours ?
A lot of people on this board seem to go on about how much money they have or how many BTL properties they have or how they are mortgage free and 'live rent free'. Why they feel that everyone needs to know this information is beyond me. Clearly they have personality issues.
It is a Bull trait though because I have never seen any bears do all this.0 -

I admit to having done this, but only when asked or provoked. I think the people you refer to, do actually do this on a regular basis, and often without being asked (I think they use it as a boast, or as an attempt to belittle others).30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older. Well its different if you are provoked, and its a typical Bull technique to try and provoke bears to derail a discussion the Bulls are losing.
Whereas the people who were going on about being mortgage free and 'rent free for life' revealed this information to me as a put down to try and disrupt my discussion about mortgage debt. To be honest though as soon as they had revealed it, they lost the discussion in my mind. Clearly their rent free lives can't be so idyllic if they have to brag about it to strangers on the internet.
Its a moot point anyway because 'rent free' simply means they have invested hundreds of thousands of pounds in a brick box and the return on that investment is shelter. Nothing is 'free'.0 -
Chuck, sorry mate, I know I thank you usualy but this is a bit discourteous and mean spirited old Boy.
it's not my fault that the Devon has issues with his personal situation. i would too if i screwed myself up financially.
i actually feel pity for him, send me a PM Devon - i'll help you get over it...0 -
I would just like to apologiseIn short I would like to put this simple straight forward question to chucky:
In what way does the demand for more rental properties FORCE landlords to raise rent prices when in many cases the lower interest rates will mean there actual 'business' costs are less?
the prices are rise or fall depending on the desire of people's ability to pay, if someone wants to pay you £100 you're not going to tell them you'd rather receive £50 or would you.0 -

you're welcome, it caused quite a kuffuful.
the market drives the demand.

Yes by all means I wouldn't take less than offered, but if I was renting I wouldn't be offering more would I?
The whole thing strikes as price fixing, as mentioned it would be fair to say that landlords costs have dropped, but if they all rise prices together the renters have no choice.
So yet again why have rents increased? its nothing to do with greed exploiting a situation is it?Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017

the market determines the price and the ability to pay of the renter. so i wouldn't sayit's price fixing because rents go up and down so it works both ways.0 -

At this point I will state again that I am as good as mortgage free. That is not a boast or a put down, it is a fact. What is also a fact is that I have made it quite clear that I think that the property/mortgage/banking industries in the UK have been run like a casino, particularly over the past decade. I will lose no sleep if the value of my home falls 50% in the next year or two (no, that is not a prediciton :shhh:). I think I'm a rare breed around here, who is a property owner, who doesn't want property prices to rise at the moment, I would prefer them to fall to more affordable levels. I want a fair and stable property market for this and the next generation. I want the UK's population to be spending money on other things, rather than the roof over their head. I don't want our people and banks to continue worshipping bricks and mortar. I do have issues with BTL investment, and the way it allows a fairly small percentage of the population to have such a "control" over a fundamental requirement for everyone.30 Year Challenge : To be 30 years older.
