This sounds very much like my girly... :(

and the fact he came to you when he was hurt shows while his stomach may wander, his home is with you.. he knows you love him and will take care of him!!! High praise indeed from a cat!!

My girl was shot in the face..

Our bill was £360 if that might help any?!

I did leaflets with a pic of her with DD4 and after her op and how she had been mistreated, found in a bin, mistreated some more and come to live with us and that someone who lives in one block of houses has done this.. and next time the cat might not be so lucky, or it might be their dog or a child or they themselves.

The police don't give a toss which is disgusting and there is very little anyone can do which is really annoying!

The entry wound is at the top of her nose and the pellet was 1mm off entering her brain and probably killing her.

I am not a cat lover myself but If I ever caught anyone harming a poor defenceless cat/animal I would break their arms.. Nasty B*****ds

My Best friend has cats, and her kitten when he started to go out, would go anywhere, would wonder off and end up being taken back to her, many people knew who he belonged too, well few days went by and he never returned, they looked and finally found him, dragging his back legs, he had been beaten up badly, kicked the lot. He had internal bleeding, and was bruised physically and mentally.. Cost them a fare whack at the vets, but was worth it seeing him get better. But now he is very nervous. Love him..

    Makes my blood boil ..

The police do give a toss, But in reality theres nothing they can do. They can't get a prosecution as theres no evidence to whom did the crime.

I hope your cat gets better to !

Absolutely disgusting - you must be very upset and angry.

Please DO go to the police though. There probably won't be much they can do about this specific incident, but it's still a serious offence and it will be recorded. They might well catch up with the scum that did this in the future and your complaint could well make a difference if they're taken to court.

Also please consider contacting your local paper as they will probably publish it, which will help make other local cat and dog owners aware of the dangers.

Has he been neutered would help to reduce his wondering if he hasn't.

Unfortunately it very unlikely the people who did it will be caught unfortunately. Hope he well soon.

    Hiya Steve..

Yes he has been neutered, we took him :D ..... he came on the scene last year and wouldnt let us near him, then gradually we built up a trust between us and then he started taking food from us.... every time he had a scrap he came to us to fix him and then he was completely battered in a fight and so we took him to the vet to 'get done'......

i class him as ours since then and he has slept every night in our house ( he hated it at first as he wasnt used to being kept in)..... he has his breakfast and then has a wander and then comes back in and is mostly around here or outside our house but he will go off for a couple of hours here and there..... and i think that is when it happened ( on his travels).....

thank you everyone for your kind words....
and i am glad your cat is better..... what an evil person that was that did that to your lovely cat.....

    update:
we have just been to visit him and he is recovering slowly........ he has to stay in for a few more days as the vet cant let him out while she is so concerned about his temperature going up and down and the peritonisus( spelling) and all the other stuff....
i thought he looked better than what he did yesterday ( it happened on Saturday) but we have been to visit every day and the vet keeps us posted....

i HAVE informed the police and they were shocked and have logged it.... i dont think they can do anything as there has to be proof and i have no idea where/who.....
i HAVE informed the RSPCA too and they have logged it......

i will keep you all up to date with him....xxx

I m not a cat lover, i don't like them at all but i don't think i could ever harm one.
But then you hear so many people complaining about neighbours cats poohing in their gardens that i can see why they upset so many people and lots of people aren't very nice and it takes so little to annoy them.
Unfortunately defenceless animals are seen as an easy target for the scallies who want a bit of fun,you see them shooting ducks in the park. And i'm not sure i can see a big difference between these scallies and our so-called betters who shoot animals for sport.

  • If there are other incidents in an area that are also reported to the police, sooner or later someone works out that the moron must live in a certain couple of homes. They then know where to go knocking - especially if they get bored with cats and start on passers-by.

Someone took a potshot at me when I was outside work a few years back. The police knew exactly who it was, as there had been reports of cats being targeted for a couple of months, and it was my report which narrowed it down to one flat. The resident (who was a fully grown man, not some spotty oik) was firmly encouraged to open his door and then to lay down quietly whilst they arrested him and demolished - sorry, searched - his flat :) I was awarded £80 compensation and the other animals in the area were safe again.

So reporting it is important as they could potentially be caught before they catch some toddler in the ear or someone in the eye.

I do hope your cat gets better quickly.
