But the buyer is also £10 short, as out of the £40 returned they have pre-spent with the RM £10 returning it, so they only have £30 left.
(The RM is up £20 though)0 -
Thanks i'm having a Dim moment today. Must be the ash cloud.Buyer pays £40 to seller inclusive of postage. Seller spends £10 on postage leaving them with a net £30.
Buyer returns item and gets a refund of £40, leaving seller £10 short as that has gone to the RM'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

what a to do innit
Forgot Rm actually took money for providing the service asked for,so both seller and buyer end up £10 each down and RM are paid for providing the delivery service as requested.

It is rather like one of the puzzles that start 'if John has 14 apples and gives 3 to Suzy....'
Mind you it was only last month I got myself confused on exactly the same point and had to be corrected by Macfly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. People may be getting confused with a INR dispute, where a seller can refund the total + p&p, then claim it back from RM, the seller is not out of pocket in that senario but is in this.0

No the same principle applies:
Buyer pays £40 to seller inclusive of postage. Seller spends £10 on postage leaving them with a net £30.
Buyer claims non receipt and gets a refund of £40, leaving seller £10 short as that has gone to the RM
Seller gets £40, pays £10 to RM= £30 then refunds £40 to buyer = minus £10I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Unless you offered free p&p when you sold it,the P&P charge did NOT come out of your pocket, the buyer paid the selling price AND P&P.
Refund in full
Of course the P&P comes out of the sellers pocket as the seller would have to refund the original P&P as well meaning they are out of pocket the price it cost to send it and probably the cost of returning it as well.0
