Graphics are slightly better on the PS3 compared to 360 but 360 has been around for a year, so the dev's have had more time to optimise it for the console. On the PS3 its first time so there must be room for improvement. Wii obviously isn't as good but its not what its about, I've got one and the gfx are decent enough but the gameplay is wicked :D
  • Wii is hilariously good fun. The games are cute and easy to pick up.
360 has excellent graphics and some good games.
PS3 is very underwhelming. This will be the first Playstation that I don't buy.
  • I've bought the xbox 360 as a xmas pressie for DD3 (15). I hope I made the right choice considering the difference in costs between it and the Wii.

I have a 360 and couldnt be happier, the WII is more for casual gamers where i like the shiny graphics and physics processing :-)

PS3 too expensive!!!!! althought it can run linux!, but then xbox 360 has released XNA so more "home brew" games can be produced which is gonna be quite interesting :-)

From a value point of view, its always better to go for the 360 right now as its well established, has no issues with hardware or software and many retailers giving offers which allow you to shop around for the best deal.

As 360 has XBox Live as well, it opens up a lot more gaming options.

I agree that the Wii is more for casual gaming, but it will also have a fair amount of decent solo games - Jap RPGs for instance. Many people that are Nintendo fans will also go for this option.

However, the PS3 should be next Xmas's Xmas pressy. ;) Then it will be right price at the right time.

  • I don't ge this opinion that Wii is for casual gaming... Nonsense!
Lets think of the in-depth games that are released or are curently in development for the big three...
PS3 - Can you think of any? No, me neither! (maybe the fantastic FF franchise, but that's it!)
XBOX 360 - Oblivion... I'm struggling here. Gears of War in depth? I don't think so, just because it looks good (which it does) doesn't make it an in depth involving game
Wii - Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Final Fantasy (crystal chronicles) etc etc...

The thing is, the Wii caters for casual and more serious gamers alike - Sure, you can pick it up and have a quick blast on Wii sports, but then you actually take part (instead of just pressing buttons) in the other involving games.

I know which one I'll choose!

That's still quite a small minority. They've shipped near 10 million remember. There's probably a 2-5% failure rate.

A game doesn't necessarily need to be indepth. People may play tournaments of Dead Or Alive 4, FIFa etc... for hours as examples. And I could quite happily play Gears Of War for hours on end.

I think it's more a case of the Wii having lesser graphical power, but more interaction and movement. This is it's strong point, it's very easy to pick up and play, good fun etc... but at the same time can become tiresome. I can't see someone wanting to play Wii sports for 5+ hours.

  • I bought an xbox 360 at launch and have been more than happy with it. Highlights for me have been PGR3, GRAW, Call of Duty 3 and Gears of War.

I also picked up a wii last Friday and so far am loving it. I agree that a game doesn't have to have great depth to provide hours of fun. In fact Tetris is a very simple game but people will spend hours and hours playing it just to try and beat their high score. I also hope that developers really get to grips with the wii and its control system because it has the potential to be a massive success.

I think the two consoles complement each other perfectly as they are completly different with different genres of games available. If I had to choose then the 360 would probably be my choice at the minute.

As far as the PS3 goes well so far I'm not overly optimistic. The price of £400+ I think is to high for the casual gamer for a start. Spouting off about competitors is not big or clever. The only big exclusive title it now has that I'm interested in is Gran Tourismo. Still I will probably pick one up at some point.
  • I like the fitness aspect of the Wii. That's got to be better than zoning out in front of a game ;)
