  • I had the same problem with all my three sons and although it's a few years ago now, I usually got them fixed up with well fitting trousers from Asda and they were very reasonably priced too.

Next, Primark (yes them lol!), H and M all do decent waist adjustable clothes. My DS (4) is quite slim and so I am constantly on the look out for sources of adjustable trousers. I also agree about what someone said re the bunching up round the waist thing- looks really un-comfy! I have had some elastic waist trousers given to him as a gift and had to take them in to make them stay up!

DS is 11, very skinny, long legs. Asda do school trouser with adjustable tapes. Hes got age 12-13 for the length, but bunched right up for the waist. Hes also got several pairs of their jeans/combats/joggers, as they all have a wide knitted stretchy waistband.

Exactly the same here, except my DS just wears a belt with them, so the fabric doesn't get bunched up as much as if would if the tapes were tightened.

  • bylromaha.....I got some Next value jeans which start at £7.50, I dont think that is too bad a price really. I also got Blue Zoo jeans from Debenhams for £9 and they are really good quality and last. The £3 type jeans are a false economy for me as the knees go straight through....DS has autism and spends a lot of time rolling around the floor etc and they just get holes in within a week!

Another vote for Primark here - my son also has looooong legs and skinny waste.

We also use Boden for nicer occasional wear.

Completely agree.Cheap jeans are a complete waste, they never last half as long as decent ones! Ds (autistic) went through a phase of biting the knees of his!!!!

Another vote for Next here, my daughters are older and so do not like the gathered bulky waist of other trousers. I always get their slim fit school trousers from Next now, I don't think they are too expensive as they still look good after many washes.
  • Hi, Does anyone know anywhere where I can get trousers for my sons who is 13yrs old and 5"9" with 26½" waist and 33" inside leg.
Most companies only start adult at 30" waist with 33" inside leg.
Also I need to find a dress shirt with a 12½" collar and long sleeves.

I have the same issue with my DD who is 6 in september. She is still on some trousers/shorts that are 3-4 and fit perfectly round her waist. I have either taken some up to have a turn up so they look like peddle pushers (I add a button on the sides for extra detail :) ) Or I unpick some that have a good turn up already and take them down. For instance she had some Disney ones from Matalan that were turned up so that a 3 year old could have a higher leg or a full trouser. So I undid the buttons etc and brought them down.

Other than these things that I do, the ones with adjustable elastic are always bunched up too, even the Next ones, or her legs look ridiculous and in drain pipes :)
