Our cleaner wont use budget cleaning products!

What job does the OP do as I bet they would prefer being supplied with the proper equipment to do the job properly, cleaners have standards that they work to thats why some are on £17 per hour.
I paid £16 an hour back in 1998 for cleaning services.
mind you it was two of them that came for that

Seems to me if the op is [STRIKE]so stingy[/STRIKE] such an avid moneysaver-why not sack the cleaner and get your housemates to pay you to do it insteadI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

The jist is
But the real way to clean up is in the cleaning section, with discounts on big-name products. Mr Muscle All Purpose Cleaner costs £2.04 elsewhere, while Domestos Spray is normally £2.75. Flash Spray, £2.03, Harpic Limescale Remover, £1.75.

I live in central London have had cleaners for about 15 years both privately employed and via agencies, and none of them have charged anything approaching £17 per hour, ever! I think for this money, you are either looking at very specialist cleaning (eg after a major crime!) or 2 cleaners working together, in which case each cleaner would be earning £8.50. I currently pay £10 per hour for my cleaner, and this is in line with what all my friends who have cleaners pay too.
As for the products, I think it depends on the quality. Some value and budget cleaners are very thin watered down versions of the real thing, and I couldn't clean with them nor would I expect a cleaner too. However some own brands are just as good as the branded stuff. Only OP knows what the quality of the stuff she provided was. But if it doesn't work, then I think it's fair enough for the cleaner to point this out, rather than be sacked in a couple of weeks when the employers decide they aren't happy that their bath has a permanent ring around it, or the toilet bowl is stained!0 -
How rude to call your cleaner a cheeky cow. I really appreciate my cleaner as she works really hard and makes a huge difference to my life. She has been cleaning for me for five years and i always remember her birthday and christmas. She never complains about the products I buy but I always buy when on bogof or reduced.
Well done. We get this every time there's a thread about cleaners - they get spoken about as though they're the lowest of the low.0 -
I think to be fair to the OP it was the tone of the note that prompted the cheeky cow comment. Not nice though. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

Cheap doesn't always equal value for money!
I'd go as far as saying that most cheap cleaning products are cr*p, and you end up having to use three times the quantity for the same results, so they end up costing you the same, if not more!
Just buy some decent stuff - don't you think that your cleaner knows best?!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
For anyone with concerns about me moving the thread, or how we organise Old Style please don't hesitate to contact the forum team.
I personally wouldn't say having a cleaner (and having a dispute with said cleaner) was Old Style at all
No disrespect or offence meant to anyone as I have the utmost respect for cleaners.
