Our cleaner wont use budget cleaning products!

Cheeky cow.

We live in a shared house and as there are 6 of us all working full time, we club together and once a week get someone in to give the communal rooms a once over. Anyway we stocked up on cleaning products from lidl and pound stretcher etc only to find a snotty note left last week saying the products we've left for her "aren't good enough" and could we buy "proper cleaning products" for next week

Asking around to other friends with cleaners seems to echo our experience - do cleaners all get together to demand harpic and cilit bang on mass?

What is wrong with lidl all purpose cleaner??

Decant the cheaper stuff into a branded bottle?
ALthough, I don't see why you should have to. If she says it plays havoc with her hands, bung a pair of rubber gloves in the cupboard!

I would respond with a cheeky note back saying yes you can all buy more expensive cleaning products if it means that much to her but it will mean a drop in her wages!!!!:rotfl:

From the cleaners point of view, if your willing to pay for a cleaner why would you stinge on the cleaning products?

I know the views of alot on here re cleaning products (nothing wrong with value and personally believe so myself) but if you were a cleaner would you not want the best/easiest tools for the job?

Personally id go for the decant into branded bottle though.

Please dont have a go just throwing her possible reasons/view out there

<whisper> I have a cleaner too and mine doesn't like the value stuff either, she reckons you need much more of it. To be fair she has embraced a lot of my more "green" ideas - vinegar, bicarb, green polishes etc but i did just happen to buy a bottle of Aldi multi purpose.

It's not a fortune so i will buy the better stuff (i usually buy supermarkets own "greener" version) - after all if she is going to just use more it would be a false economy anyway.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I'd pour it into a branded bottle and see if she notices the difference. Personally I think some of the value products aren't as good as the branded ones but it's certainly worth trying to see if there really is a difference.

I am a cleaner for 2 families and I take my own stuff (they both pay well)
I use eco cloths (different colours for different rooms) and anti-bac wipes.
I make sure the homes are spotless and both families are very happy with what I do :D

I think she was a bit mean to leave you a note complaining though :o I don't think I could do that, you just make the best of what you have :o

Love that idea. Can't think why I dint think of it before. Trouble is housemates aren't as MSE as me and will just go out and buy the expensive stuff and land me with the shared bill!

At least that's a source of the branded bottles for later.

Do you not think an experienced cleaner isn 't going to notice that the bottle of Flash smells and performs like that cheap rubbish from before? :D

Deary me, cheap products don't perform well, I'm a cleaner with a big customer base and know what I'm talking about, you use more, you spend more time cleaning with it which leaves less time for cleaning other things, buy decent products and you will get a decent job, a happy cleaner who will go that extra mile, and a sparkling home. Flash products are usually on offer for £1 at Asda or Wilkinsons, hardly breaking the bank. ;)

I do however, agree that she was a bit cheeky demanding via a note better products, my advice is to let it go, and say you will have better performing products for her next week :)
