Why are you looking for a job in Kent iof you are about to sign for a property in South Yorks?
Sorry but when you say that your career is more important than your family do you REALLY mean that? Because to me I work to provide a living for the little people that I love (although not SO little now) rather than see them as an inconvenience which are getting in the way of my career.
What does your husband think to you applying for a job in Kent? My advice to you would be to look at where you actually want to be, I realise its frustrating not being able to find a job, and many people on this board have been there, but surely you could get involved in sustainability closer to home? In my experience the only thing a manager gets that is different to an employee is far more grief, and less time at home!
As has been said you need to be a bit more creative with your working hours, look at flexible working, not just for you but your husband too, look at swapping childcare arrangements. Before I moved up here, my best friends husband worked for the police, my husband worked offshore and never once did we pay for childcare. Over time it all evened itself out, sometimes I had hers more, sometimes she had mine more but we all managed.
I think you need to sit down with your husband and have a heart to heart chat rather than asking on here what our opinion is of your job applications.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
but my partner is working 53 hours a week at the moment and we don't have time to talk. But then again thats a good thing. He doesn't know about the kent job yet0

My partner works shifts as a coach driver for national express he does 10 hour days starting anytime from 4am finishing up to 2am. He works a different shift pattern and different days each week.0

Well I have got an interview for http://www.groundwork.org.uk/jobs--volunteering/current-vacancies/2010/green-doctor-team-leader-kent.aspx on Thursday this week. What do you think? Also bear in mind that we are just about to sign the papers on buying a house in South Yorkshire
so what exactly do you have an MSc in?
tbh that job looks like a sales role to me, but without the commission. it looks like your [STRIKE]sales[/STRIKE]area will cover most of the south east and travelling will most likely be on top of the 'working' hours
however, that pay structure puts you totally out of tax credits entitlement, so this thread is pretty much dead

well only your employer has a say in that, so i think your first port of call would be to ask them, and take it from there

Yes my career is more important than my family. I probably won't get the job on Thursday so yes the thres is still relevant. No the travelling is included in the working hours and its advertising households on how to save money and reduce their impact on the environment http://www.eastmidlands.groundwork.org.uk/creswell-ashfield--mansfield/what-we-do/case-studies/2011/green-doctor/full-story.aspx0
