I suspect that it costs them about the same to have the bed delivered to the shop as it does to have it delivered to your house

This is another example of health and safety being used inappropriately to justify something. It seems to day if a company doesn't want to agree to something they hide behind either the data protection act or the health and safety legislation.

Yes, OP was lucky they didn't say he couldn't pick it up because of the Data Protection Act. :D

Or 'we can't tell you why you can't pick it up, because of the DPA' :D

I have to admit I agree. If things cannot be purchased without paying the delivery charge, then said delivery charge should be part of the original price because that is what you pay if you buy the item. Reminds me of certain airlines advertising flights for £1 etc!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

I hate paying delivery fees.Though i have just paid £19 for a delivery of a table, from the south to the north, which I think was very reasonable. I think they are wrong about not being able to take it yourself. Another money making scheme. I usually say "i won't bother then " nd if they don't agree to a free or discounted delivery walk out. Of course i have often had to go back tail between legs because i couldn't find it anywhere else.
Ignore the nasty remarks on here, it's a forum for gods sake and some nasty people need their dose of spite to get through the day

Yes, there seems to be a group of people who spend their time ridiculing people who use the vent forum to have a vent.

Someone earlier today coined the very apposite epithet: "The bitchy Brigade". :D

you still made a saving of £62.50 and got 2 drawers as an added bonus compared to the other ones you saw, where's the issue?

also, bitchy brigade (with no need for a '1' in place of the i in bitch)
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

LOL, you must have special privileges!

You can see what happens when I try and spell the word properly - even in a quote.

We're lucky that MSE has such a sensible moderation policy.

On some sites I use you and I would both have got a suspension for 'bypassing the profanity filter'. :D
