Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 21st May. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
Just came downstairs in time to see the milkman drive away without leaving me any milk, I didn't feel like running down the road in my dressing gown chasing after him, so I'll get some from the local shop later.
I came home from work feeling like I'd been run over by a steam roller, so nothing got done last night, but after a good nights sleep I now feel better.
I was given 3 manky bananas at school yesterday so will make a banana loaf to take in on Monday & I will do the washing & hang it on the line. Hubby will be pottering in the garden & watching the GP qually.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who cross and follow!

Sorry to hear milkman left you out. Gosh haven't had a milkman since the kids were tiny. Does he deliver before you go to work?

We will be popping over to Wells today for a walk round. We often go on a Saturday as it's 20 mins over the hill and we like to get out for a bit. We live out on the outskirts of South Bristol so it's only 5 mins to the country. Up a big hill though, narrow and windy with no pavement so not safe to walk up these days. We live between two large areas of social housing and I work locally tutoring in the not for profit community development organisation just around the corner.

Fancied making elderflower champagne his weekend but never tried before......have been decluttering wine bottles(hic) to store it!

Oh and there's a transport rally at the docks (sorry marina now) in the centre of Bristol tomorrow and OH is desperate to go as he loves vintage buses(and trains) so that's tomorrow sorted. Free entry so very OS.

Tea-don't know yet but have chickpea and spinach curry in the freezer. Think it's a cba to cook day.

    Have a lovely Saturday all.

    Morning Hester & everyone

Keep missing threads, so hugs/kisses/congrats/commiserations as required! :)

Sunny but rather cool here today, got tons of washing to do. Need to shop for DS' 4th birthday tea tomorrow - got some stuff in, but need salad bits, crisps, makings for cake etc. His birthday's Monday, but it's easier to get people together on a Sunday for a couple of hours. Also got to put out invitations for a bit of a do for our 25th wedding anniversary! Again, do at home - DH said what do we do if it's raining? Told him we'd be inside - doh! - don't care if we're squashed but I'm having a party as we often let our own celebrations go without marking - NOT THIS TIME! :rotfl:

We're going out tonight, I'm working today, so tea is something simple like beans on toast or pasta.

Have a good morning all - hope all your washing dries & you don't overspend! :D

    Morning All,

Hester - our milkman does that sometime!! You just reminded me to put in another order for monday!

Well, i've put a wash on and cleaned the kitchen (in a half hearted kind of way)

My load of bread last night was a complete success!! So will attempt to do away with store bought loaves and will make another couple of loaves tomorrow for the week ahead.

I need to walk the dog after my cuppa, i'm helping my dad today who is scared of dogs so pup is staying home.

We ended up with HM pizza last night...all that dough talk make me hungry! so tonight is carbonara with garlic bread.

    Have a lovely day all

Morning Hester, Gintot, BB and all who cross and follow,

Nights all done until Tuesday, always such a nice feeling. Will go to bed this morning for a couple of hours then it's washing and pottering about.

Lovely day here again but still need some rain.

Tea is either steak with homemade chips and veg or I may take DS out to have spaghetti and clams at my local Italian as I got paid for an agency shift I had forgotten all about :D.

Have a good day all, hugs to all who need one

    Morning all,

Isn't it another lovely day, I hope this weather holds for next week as we are off to the seaside next Friday for a week, can't wait, we paid for it so long ago that it almost feels like a free holiday.:)
Washing is in the WM and DW is on.

OH has gone off early morning cycling again dressed like he is in the Tour de France, not a good look for a middle aged man!

DD2 is off on yet another sleepover tonight, she seems to have one every week at the moment, I am not looking forward to when it is our turn to have them all here, 11 year old girls are very screechy when they all get together.

I have won £25 of Boots vouchers in a prize draw and I think that I will treat myself with them today.:)

Got to go to the supermarket today as have been eaten out of house and home by teenagers again, tea tonight will probably be the HM fish pie that I have in the freezer.

    Congratulations to Lowesy.

Bitsy, hope that your cat is on the mend.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Good Morning All

Not posted last few days, been running DD back and forwards for her exams so have to get out the house early.

Well the weather is lovely today, the washing pile is minimal, the ironing pile is tiny and the house is quite tidy :j so will mainly be a pottering day. Think will make chicken stock then chicken soup for lunch. Thinking lasagne for dinner. Cupcakes need stocking up - OH will not let them run out :o

Good news this week, applied for a p/t cust service job working for a not for profit housing assoc. Had a telephone interview wed and got called for a proper interview this coming wednesday. Am nervous and excited :D

DD is coping well with her gcse's and DS is trundling along as normal so life is good, have the normal business cashflow worries but nothing new there.

Anyway better get doing something or I might get too comfortable and not move for hours!

    Have a great day.x

He looked at my face for quite a while and could tell something had changed but wasn't sure what - keen to earn brownie points he said i looked very pretty. (i told him later it was the lashes! - which still look good today, i'm looking forward to going to waitrose later for some honey and chocolate!)

essex-girl - well done! good luck with the interview!
