Why people are giving up selling on Ebay.

So let me tell you why I would never agree to a mutual from a lost item Actually no. If the seller is a private seller they can claim back via royal mail for the whole cost of the item. So if the buyer agrees to the cancellation they get their FVFs back as well as the selling price so in reality get their FVFs back twice and have made a profit from a loss. Is that really fair?
To expect a personal seller to know how RM works and the refund process is asking a bit much. My first claim including findint the right section on the website, trying to speak to a human, then downloading form printing etc took well over half an hour, this was for a petrol flap worth £15. So claiming the whole cost back from RM may seem like an easy suggestion but in practice for 99p items its too much hassle0 -
Nowhere does it say that the item was lost in the post, just lost.
You are assuming that they were lost in the post, as lots of us are assuming that they were lost prior to posting.
Buyer didn't purchase in error, so as a buyer I certainly would not agree to a cancellation.
Maybe a big fat neg will help the seller to remember that people who buy from him are customers & a little bit of courtesy can go a long way.
I say that as someone who sells more than I buy on ebay & only sell my own stuff as a private seller.0 -
where else would a reasonable person expect it to be lost?Nowhere does it say that the item was lost in the post, just lost.
ROFL. No, "lots of us" aren't assuming they were lost prior to posting. You must have some strange way of thinking if that is the first assumption you'd come to. Any normal thinking person would assume lost in post. You are assuming that they were lost in the post, as lots of us are assuming that they were lost prior to posting.Maybe a big fat neg will help the seller to remember that people who buy from him are customers & a little bit of courtesy can go a long way.

Show me where in the list there is an option to select lost in post? You can't because there isn't one. There is no applicable one and in fact, the seller may not even realise it was a drop-down list for the reasons with the one they put being the first on the list so may be a genuine mistake in that respect. In other info they put the item was lost so aren't denying the reason why.Buyer didn't purchase in error, so as a buyer I certainly would not agree to a cancellation.
I hope you get the karma you deserve, you send out an expensive item that gets lost in the post, the buyer takes the same attitude as you and not only are you down the value of the item but also £10's in Ebay FVF fees as well.
I'm still waiting for you to PM me your ebay ID so I can block you.0 -
I'm unlikely to buy from you as I mainly sell, the few things I do buy are clothing, I believe you sell computers?0

We're still waiting for your id Hammy, then don't worry, you won't need to block us.0

Whats wrong with everyone on here lately? This is turning into a slanging match. Hammy made a valid point about a 99p item not being received and the sellers request to cancel the transaction. I could understand it on £100 item all the objections but it was only a 99p item and the refund was issued immediately after the seller was aware of the problem. Therefore IMO the request was justified, all the spin offs about people assuming lost elsewhere other than in the post and then filing claims with the PO for a 99p item are OTT, just step back and look at the facts. And be nice to each other ;-)0

Hammy, very noble of you that, and proves you're no keyboard warrior, unlike others........... Might be best to remove though as there are that many sad people on here that will wreck auctions etc, unless you are purely set on BIN and instant payment. Still I'd edit it mate.0

Don't worry, no need to bother blocking me, rest assured I won't be buying from you.
I'm getting out of the low rent stuff anyway now that I've sold my last Pentium-M class machine so you probably won't be able to afford it.
(Saying that, knowing me I'll probably buy some out of habit on Monday when I go to the auctions again and they are good "bread and butter" machines
:D )
P.S, if you are going to order me pizza, can you make it a Pepperoni or Meat Feast?0 -

Does that mean something?0
