Errr... they won't be out of pocket - the OP paid them to send it, not the seller, so the seller won't be out of pocket, but the buyer will be, as they won't get the return cost refunded

The op paid £50 for the dummy, plus £25 for the carriage.
The seller spent the £25 with the courier, so has £50 in the bank.
The op sends the dummy back, paypal refund the £75, so the seller is down the £25 it cost to send out, the op is down the cost to return.
(Although it probably wasn't the full £25, so the seller will be down the real cost)

But then a seller shouldn't sell dodgy goods. Unless this is huge the seller probably paid around £8-99 to a parcel courier & I doubt whether they spent £16 on packaging.

I meant it as a good thing, not a bad thing. :)

Advantages of buying with free postage. Will it really cost £25 to return it?

Or did they make a bit of profit from the postage?

To be honest if I read 'fully functional' in the description I would expected it not to look pretty and to have a few faults.

Is it going to cost more to post it back plus the original postage costs to put it right, if not get it fixed and leave neg feedback for the seller.

You're joking right? I don't expect 'fully functional to mean 'on the pi$$!
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

Sounds like the sort of thing a business seller would sell, not private, so it would be covered by DSR.
Threat of legal action may be enough to get your return postage, if they forgot to put a disclaimer on their listing.

i did send them a list of faults that they hadn't mentioned - and the fabric coming away etc would have been fine it just doesn't seem sturdy...

You'll get back your original p&p if you open a SNAD, take a look at courier costs to send it back. Does it come off the base? What sort of weight & size will it be packaged?
It could go be that p&p will be less than £10.

it does indeed come apart - and i have the packaging that they sent it in - so all i would need to do is add tape. they have even provided a return address - which i would check was marked against their ebay account - (how do i do that?????)

and it is surprisingly light - so it would just be the size of the box i would be charged on from royal mail....

    thanks for all the help.

Make sure you open the case in paypal, itmay try to re-direct you to ebay.
Follow the instructions, it should tell you to return it by a tracked means, and should confirm the returns address. Don't go off the parcel yet, they may have put their parents/ friends etc.
