AAAAAARGH naff response from seller

Hi,

i have recently paid £75 and change for a dressmakers dummy.

however when it arrived it is rather unsteady on it's feet, the base is held together with cracked through glue, and a cable tie.

After raising this with the seller they stated that i could return it for a full refund. - However i asked them to specify if i would get postage refunded as they charged £25 to deliver, and i imagine royal mail will charge a bit to send it tracked back to them. to which they responded no as they view the issue to be purely aesthetic.

they have described it as being fully functioning - which i would dispute seen as it leans drunkenly on it's feet....

i'm a bit annoyed, as the response to my last email detailing all of the damage to this item that they hadn't mentioned was...

so.

if i open a case SNAD, will they have to pay return postage?

many thanks,

You will I'm afraid, and that's what the seller is playing on.
Make sure you leave a neg, and 1 star across the board when you get the refund.

To be honest if I read 'fully functional' in the description I would expected it not to look pretty and to have a few faults.

Is it going to cost more to post it back plus the original postage costs to put it right, if not get it fixed and leave neg feedback for the seller.

    thanks for the response.

will they have to refund the original £25 postage though?

because realistically if i'm going to loose about £50 (if i have to pay postage both ways) i may as well suck it up....

which is as you say what they are counting on.....

well sucks to be them as they have small sales volumes, and after sending it asked me to give good DSR's. realistically i knew i was being robbed for postage their communication clearly sucks and the item is falling apart. so yay. :(

***REALLY EXCELLENT, FULLY WORKING ORDER & SUPER CLEAN / FROM A SMOKE & PET FREE HOME.***

was their exact description, well part of it anyway.

and if i have to pay postage both ways it's not worth sending it back....

you live and learn i suppose.

If you win a SNAD then I'm sure you get the cost AND the original postage refunded...? Perhaps someone could confirm?

What you don't get is the postage you have to pay to return it, tracked.

You'll get the item cost, and the p&p you paid initially refunded. So they'll be out of pocket on what they actually paid to wrap it and post it.
What you won't get back is what it costs you to return it by a tracked means.
If you do return it, they may try it on and offer a partial refund, or a refund of just the selling price, if you close the claim. Don't agree, get all the money you paid back.

You'll get back your original p&p if you open a SNAD, take a look at courier costs to send it back. Does it come off the base? What sort of weight & size will it be packaged?
It could go be that p&p will be less than £10.

Errr... they won't be out of pocket - the OP paid them to send it, not the seller, so the seller won't be out of pocket, but the buyer will be, as they won't get the return cost refunded

Fully functional for a dressmaking dummy should be steady, it would be pretty tricky to pin a straight hem etc if the dummy's not straight.
