Try shutting AVG down, then try Appremover (http://www.appremover.com) and let us know how it goes.0
-
Tried that twice now and pc froze both times, had to switch off at plug, going to leave that for mo and run antimalware. So much for taking an hour. I started at 5 and have only uninstalled 2 things0
-
use the removal tool, and post installed ram/commit charge
http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools
actual effort normally takes less than 30 minutes, scanning can take longer!!

Thanks for trying the other one, was curious to know how it would go on a 'difficult' removal.
Appremover seems better than the McAfee and Norton removal tools from my own use, and uninstalls Bullguard & Avira well - but not very good at removing Avast at all. Uninstalls AVG fine normally, but this shows that the AVG own removal tool is more useful.0 -
I have worked my way through the list and done most of the recomendations and PC is def faster at boot up
here is new hijack log

Download and install cleanmem http://www.pcwintech.com/cleanmem (download direct download). In windows explorer, go to c:\windows\tasks, click on the clean system memory task, schedule, advanced, and change it from every 30 minutes to every 5 minutes, then ok, ok. Find c:\program files\cleanmem\mini_monitor, run it and right click the icon (near the clock) to set it to automatically run at startup, show percentage to keep an eye on your ram use. If your machine is still slow after doing everything listed, post your commit charge and installed physical ram details from task manager performance
