Welcome Car Finance - What To Do?

Hi, my son had problems with Welcome, they will not give up, they will re-emerge at some point and if their heavy tactics don't work they will sell the debt on to even more ruthless companies.
You will have ruined your credit rating for the forseeable future so your chance of getting affordable finiance for a larger car will be non-existant.
Sometimes you hear nothing for several years and then the likes of Newells or MacKenzie Hall start pressurising you all over again.
As you had contact with them in 2009 there is a long way to go before the debt becomes statute barred.
It depends on what outcome you are hoping for , but I would contact them, maybe even go into their local office, and try to come to an agreement otherwise you could end up with many years of worry.
From what you say they appear to be within their rights to repossess the car, at least that would probably be an end to it.
Unless you disappear off their radar they ( or others ) will be back.0 -

Well I thought Apples2's reply was very succinct, useful, and absolutely to the point.
If you have nothing better to do than police other poster's comments, then keep quiet.Optimists see a glass half full

To be fair it was blunt.
I found in simply incredulous that someone would take a loan of £7.5K, make two payments than take it upon themselves to simply cancel the direct debit.
To make things worse, post on here as if claiming to be a victim and Welcome are the ones at fault due to some erroneous wording on a default notice.
I shudder to think of what the total amount payable was in the first place for this £7.5K loan at Welcomes Interest rate, now add up all those fees and charges for so many missed payments.
The OP has been driving a £4K car listed at £7.5K agreeing to pay about £13K for it three years ago for the princely sum of about £200 but now feels aggrieved.0 -

How very self important of you.
Posting a question on a discussion board and replying to somebody's comment with grow up?
You are certainly discouraging people from leaving you useful advice with that attitude.
Questions are surely posted up to get answers. If you do not like the answers you should either take them as someone else's opinion and bypass them if you do not like them, or not post any questions in future just in case somebody tells you what they think. Alternatively you could post your question then post the answer you want as the first reply and go away happy and ignorant.
Posting a question, asking for advice, then berating the advice you get is plainly odd.
Maybe you could just pay for a larger car outright if the complexities of car finance are causing you difficulties? I am terribly sorry that welcome finance and their crystal ball did not predict the need for you to have a larger car than you picked yourself for two payments. Maybe they should arrange delivery of a 52 seater bus just to cover all possibilities?0 -
This all smells of fish and make no mistake."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

Steal another one, but a bigger one this time.
@OP
What will you do if they now repo the car that you dont actually own? You'll have no chance of getting further credit to buy a new one, And to top it off you still owe for the old one.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. But it wasn't advice was it! Clearly I've come to the wrong place, I was simply asking what I could do, I have a car sat outside that Welcome don't seem to want to repo, thats all. No mention of stealing it, or anything of that nature. If you don't agree with my post, why reply? I think the attitude of some users on this board is just as bad, but obviously, being long term users, and riding a moral high horse, means they can say what they feel without any comeback.
So, lets say I take your advice, and pay for a larger car, what do I do with this one? Like I said, apart from one attempt to repo it, Welcome haven't bothered, so, am I to have this car parked outside on our drive for time eternal?0 -
