Welcome Car Finance - What To Do?

I'm hoping maybe someone can give some advice on what to do. In Feb 2008 I purchased a car via Welcome, a joint agreement with my, at the time, partner. A couple of months later we split up and due to money problems, Welcome defaulted us and subsequently in Aug 2008, terminated the account. I still have the car, nearly 3yrs later from termination, and despite one attempt to repossess, have heard nothing from Welcome. I have no contact with my ex partner but I believe she has heard nothing either. Now, what should I do? I'm not in a postion to pay off the finance, original amount £7500, but am surprised to have heard nothing from Welcome regarding the car. Surely I can't have slipped through the net and they've forgotten about me.
The default note they issued is, acording to another site, dodgy, will attach some copies to end of the post, as well as copies of the agreement.
Going on what I have been told, if the default notice is not as it should be, I am only liable for the arrears upto date of termination?
The situation I am in at the moment is that we are in need of a bigger car, but am stuck with this one and no idea as to what to do. Given Welcome's situation at the moment, is it likely that they'll do anything about it?
(Will add attachments as soon as I am able)

Have you made any payments since August 2008?0

so take it you havent attempted to contact them to tell them of the error since?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Firstly I would get a hold of your credit reports, from both Experian and Equifax and check what is on your credit file.
You are extremely likely to have a default on your credit record and an unsettled one at that or worse still a CCJ issued against you.
If you have either, then you won't be accepted for finance anyway for a new car.
If after you have seen your credit reports, you do have either a default/ccj or both, you are simply going to have to contact them about it if you want to sort out the mess.
If not then I guess it is possible at least for now you have dropped off the radar, but that's not to say you won't suddenly appear on their radar again.0 -
The chances are you will be unable to sell the car. It should show on any HPi check that the car has unsettled finance on it and no-one will touch it with a barge pole (or shouldnt).0

simple, its not your asset to sellDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I had a car from welcome and the brakes, lights, and engine were faulty , i informed them , but instead of taking it for repair as thats all i wanted, they took it and then told me it was repossesed leaving me with 9,000 to pay, they started ending this one debt collector around who was nasty and whilst i was out had pushed my heavily pregnant wife back into the hallway and told her to stay in there and he slammed the door shut, ill be back for the money tomorrow , luckily we had 5 witnessesd who all came to her need , byt he still came around threatning me and the police did nothing it just got worse, i am now claiming the moey as compensation or i will put this in every national paper i can and the news , welcome are full of rubbish .Suffolklad wrote: »I'm hoping maybe someone can give some advice on what to do.
