Npower. Three years, no solution

I changed supplier from E-on to Npower over three years ago. Was told they'd be cheaper they obviously weren't I was previously paying around £90 a quarter. Received a bill from them for the first quarter of around £400  Bearing in mind that it's a one bedroom flat with GCH. Raised a dispute with them. They insisted it was correct and was probably because I had a cold fill washing machine :rotfl: Told them to stuff it :D Got loads of letters demanding payment. Kept calling them but they wouldn't budge. They sent me through another bill without any meter readings for £545:eek: Told them to stuff that one too :D So they forced me to have a pre-payment meter. With the bill being over £500 they wouldn't let me change supplier.
After having received final demands, letters from debt collection agencies, texts, phonecalls, we're going to cut you off blah blah blah.
Three years later:eek::eek: last month they finally admitted to their "mistake".
Was told it was going to be passed on to the "specialist complaints team". Whatever that is:D
Still heard nothing, so for the past week I've been phoning them morning moon and night.
Have been told first that my account had been put on hold for a month (still receiving the debt letters etc.) Then a chap said "it's OK it's all been sorted........
with now put your account on hold for three months.....oh my dayz:cool:
Have spoken to a manager Monday, Catherine Lavell (hope I've spelt that right but if I haven't tough because you can't even pronounce my name correctly). Who apparently wasn't able to make a decision (she originally told me) that this debt had been written off. Told them to stuff that one too :D Want compensation now.
Then Tuesday to try and cut another long story short, "Owen" was looking into my account. "Owen" called and he'd either had a long bike ride or had had a nasty accident. So we'll assume it was a lady. She said the account was being looked at against my pre-payment meter payments to check that I had been overcharged.
And that I'd receive a call by Friday. (Which Friday she didn't specify to be fair).
So three years later (they don't like me reminding them of the scale or being reminded) so I said from now on then we'll call it thirty six months :p . No phone call, no solution again:mad:
Still, have moved into a new flat and guess what it was being supplied by Npower:eek:
Have switched:cool:

So Npower wrote the debt off but you're still not happy with that?

Much as I think them a dreadful company it appears you've been treated far better than some! Personally I'd therefore just move on with your life.

I wouldn't waste your time phoning them - in my opinion with Npower everyones a "Manager" or Supervisor but no one has any real authority (or in some cases any apparent brains either!) & that includes their complaints team. If you put it in writing you can at least prove your position & reasonable attempts to resolve the matter should it go further!

The letters they are sending are pretty much meaningless - they don't snow upply you so can't fit a pre payment meter or cut you off & apart from making a noise they can't do anything else to you whatsoever without making & winning a court claim. Just write back state your position & provide any evidence you may have that they had agreed to writing this off then tell them that 3 years is beyond a joke & they need to either take it to the Courts for resolution or stop harrassing you with this nonsense.

    Hi madmuppet5

I'm concerned to see how long it is taking to sort your account out.

Can I look into this for you so I can try to get this sorted asap? Can you send your account and address details to forumresponse@npower.com so I can take a look?

    Thanks
    Sally

    Hi Sally.

OK I've done that. Happy reading.
I should add that the latest contact was a voicemail (Friday) stating that the account was being rebilled and won't here anything until today at the earliest. But, if I wished to discuss it further to call 0845....:wall:

I can't believe the OP hasn't involved Offgen, or whoever the ombudsman is these days.

I admit I have dragged my heels over this. However, I have had other things to worry about apart from a bill that I clearly did not owe. :p It's just when you get told one thing and then another and then the previous one it gets all so frustrating. However, that may be the next course of action ;)

It's the best way to give them a kick up the backside.

If you have had debt collection agencies chasing you, then it will have an effect on your credit rating. So you want to make sure they sort that also.
