Does anyone know if I can migrate my current mobile number (if out of contract) to an Orange Sim Only plan.
Or if i was to upgrade without a new phone (ie getting a line rental discount) could I order an iphone 4 sim?

You can go from contract to sim only thats not a problem. The problem is getting a micro-sim.
To get one, you need to add a data bundle to your sim only plan costing an extra £10p/m before Orange will send one. So if you took into account the cheapest sim only contract (12mths, £10p/m for 300 mins and unlimited texts) it would end up being £20 because of the bundle.0 -
If you're an existing Orange customer, you can call 150 and go through either to Upgrades or Retentions - if you're out of your contract you can change to a SIMO (either 30-day rolling contract or fixed period SIMO contract).
Not an iPhone user so can't answer the second bit.
It might be worth having a look online and see what tariffs are available/price so that you have something to measure what they offer you against.Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world!

They do, but they don't have a micro-sim with them. The only one that does is the iPhone £25p/m sim only. 600mins unlimited texts and 500mb of internet with unlimited wi-fi. They'll send out a micro sim free on that one, but on any plan that isn't an iPhone one whereby the customer requires a micro sim, they will insist on the extra data bundle.0

I think in this case it's better just to cut the sim.0

I you ring retentions then they should be able to help. I've just moved from contract to 30 day rolling sim only deal for iPhone 4.
When my contract expires on 1st June I will move onto Canary 10 + iPhone bundle for £15. :j
I got the "loyalty" discount on the line rental as I'm not having a new handset.
Your best bet is talking to retentions, but if the first person you speak to isn't very helpful just ring back later to speak to someone else which is what I did & the 2 people I spoke to were chalk & cheese!0 -
i agree with bluefox,
you do not need a data bundle just because you need a microsim. call retentions and ask for a microsim to be posted out and sort a deal out with them.
i was on the iphone 4 sim only tariff at £25 per month. i phoned for my pac number after a few months and was offered all sorts of tariffs to stay with them.
you can have any tariff on there website with a microsim, and a lot of them were offered to me with double minutes etc and around 750mb of data.
"just because you have an iphone 4 dont let them tell you that you need a data bundle added on, because data is data, and the ip4 will not use any more which is what they tried telling me lol, untill i spoke to an orange agent who was more clued up"
ps have you considered 3 ??? best network ive tried0 -

Im confused, have you got 2 contacts, one that you moved to Sim only
and another one expiring soon?0 -

Your right, however as Apple are the only people who use Microsims (iPhone or iPad) and these devices do live on line a lot getting updates and news as well as browsing you really do NOT want to take the option of no inclusive data contract.
Do you need the data no, but then do you need to be paying £1 a day each day you use data, when you could be paying £5 for a monthly data bundle.0
