Well if they are a BPA registered car park, I'm still sure there is something about giving disabled drivers more time, but anyway...Seeing as how they're not being considerate then why should you even CONSIDER giving them a penny? ...Don't send them anything otherwise they'll demand more... Just ignore, and have a read through other threads for comfort :D
you are right there.. they did not make any consideration to anything I entered as my plight ... in first not being able to find a suitable wide enough parking bay due to the few disabled bays being taken and there were no baby spaces either (I had my 2 year old granddaughter with me) .. I explained all this to no avail. BTW am I allowed to name and shame the store and location?

Yes, name and shame both the store and the parking company. They both deserve it.

The store is Dunelm Mill and the location Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex and the car park company are TPS. I wrote to Dunelm customer services on Friday night and they wrote back fist thing Saturday morning and were sympathetic and did feel that if I took my receipt for shopping and the ticket notice, that a satisfactory outcome would be found. I think she may have been a tad optimistic but I may just try it out and take her email with me to show them. I may do a bit of canvassing in the car park whilst there and ask other customers do they know what the parking time is and to gently remind them so that they head off out of there before the 90 min cut off point. The queues in that shop are always horrendous as they rarely have enough tills open so you need to allow not only time to negotiate the dreadful parking layout of it but then make allowances too for getting out of there on time with your purchases. Dreadful place from that aspect...shame their prices are so good and the only place around here like that! When you live in more heavily populated areas it seems you get far more choice of cheaper outlet malls etc. We have very little in Sussex.. we have to drive to Wales (homeland) or the Midlands/Portsmouth/Swindon/Street to find these sort of places. So they know they have us over a barrel in that sense.

You are letting this bother you.. WHY
This is not a fight you can win, you have been invoiced by a very greedy nasty company who have no other way than threats to make you give them money.
You are arguing with a hungry Shark, you will not win.
stop back off, ignore all correspondence.
they will go away eventually as they can not enforce a penalty

If you feel that, because you were officially in the wrong for overstaying, then ignore them and give the £40 that you think is fair to charity.
I already donate a lot to charity and am presently a charity case on my own as I care for my mum singlehandledly with no help from the govt.. don't get me started on that one!! lol ;-)

basically Vax because I don't like having things like this hanging over my head. I know I am not alone in that concern from reading many of the posts of others in same situation. I guess in time when I have weathered this storm, I will be giving out same advice to others. :-)

To get your own back on the store, you could always use the "full trolley" ploy. What you do is fill a large trolley full of high-value goods, take it to the check-out, and then announce at the top of your voice "I will have to abandon this stuff here as my parking time-limit is almost up". Then just walk out of the store, never to be seen again.

hahahahahahahaha, Sussex by the Sea again!:rotfl::rotfl:

Join the Brighton area anti-PPC brigade on other threads HMG7, look for the Brighton Meteor parking thread for a start where someone is going to mention the issue to the Argus. Myself and SodG24 (another poster) are on your side and are not a million miles away as we cheerfully admit to being complete strangers but also Sussex-based Brighton fans (yes Perky and Haswell, I have said this before so don't go spouting it later that you have 'found out' that I am from Sussex...!).

Seroiusly, I would complain to Dunelm Mill Head Office as this is not on. Not only is their restriction illegal and needs changing so it is waived or reasonably extended for disabled visitors, but you've also said they don't have enough disabled bays which is another Equality Act failure! You could get compensation for their treatment of you - but at the very least you should demand an apology and climbdown from Dunelm Mill. Take the BBC printout link I gave you before, with you if you call into the store. But TBH I would be writing AGAIN to the Head Office not dealing with a local Manager who may not have a clue about the illegalities that they are guilty of here.

Whatever happens ignore the PPC of course.

I wasn't suggesting that you actually do this. I wouldn't.
It's just that you were sounding like you felt you were guilty and should be paying something.

My point was that you don't have to pay this invoice, so if you want to pay something then you may as well pay it to a charity.
But you don't have to pay anything, so only go down that route if you want to.

Jimmythewig..I was sounding guilty I guess because I did/do feel it. I did overstay and I can't say I didn't.. down to my own fault for not checking the board on time and taking someone else's word that it was 2 hours.. but it was an honest mistake at the end of the day.. let's face it .. why would anyone in their right mind, deliberately overstay if they knew they were going to get hounded by these moronic people? I figured you were possibly kidding but as do not know you.. was not 100% sure! ;-) ....anyway...everyone seems to say the same thing .. don't pay it! I am struggling with that I must admit but do see the reasoning not to pay up! I guess its the way I was brought up.. out of debt out of danger springs to my mind.. my mother's words to me all through my youth and probably the majority of us have been brought up on those pearls of wisdom. But in those days they did not charge you for parking to shop! I am not looking forward to the harrassment .. life is hard enough at times without the concern but I will shove them in a file as has been suggested to me and tell them in no uncertain terms where to go (politely of course) when they start phoning! Thank you!
