That was arther rude un-neccesary, for someone "not wishing to stereotype".

Yes, you sound like you've had a great time - good for you. But not all of us can afford to do all the stuff you've done, this does not make us boring.

Nothing. But it has plenty to do with the discussion that followed; you must have been too busy to notice.

I have to say that every student I know, which is a very sizable quantity, watch plenty of tv and I cant think of any of them who do not have some form of digital tv receiver, be it freeview (most common), cable or sky.

Another thing, everyone I know who sits on the council at Uni is an extremely boring, unsociable person. Im not trying to stereo type and perhaps this is more the culture of my uni, but to me, it appears you are not too different.

    Enjoy your next society meeting.

    Agreed.
People on society meetings are the most boringest people you'll ever meet. They hardly go out, don't get drunk, and stick there head in their books on student nights. They really need to get a life.

University is about a work / life balance that prepares you for life. If you are sticking to your studys 24 / 7, your not going to succeed in work life either..............unless you become a lecturer! :rotfl:
However, if you do go out drinking 7 nights a week and aren't doing your coursework....maybe cut down on a few of the nights out, save some money, and get the magical 40% to pass!

    Mortgage as Sept 2012: £96,000
    Mortgage free: When i'm 39 / Sept 2023

    Mortgage repayment = £588
Tracker Rate 1.99% above base: 2.49%

Being someone that is regularly involved in society meetings I find that very disrespectful and narrow minded. Stereotyping at its worst.

So you think that merely passing a degree is an achievement? You're attitude is a prime example of what is wrong with the vast majority of HE students these days and why they find it hard to get employment. Yes it is important to have a balance of work, rest and play, in that order, but I see far too much partying and half-arsed efforts, these types do not belong at uni IMO and they really annoy me to be honest, as they a) give students a bad name, and b) Lord help you if you have to do groupwork with any of these wasters. For myself Uni is about studying and achieving academic excellence, first and foremost, yes the social side is valuable and certainly an enjoyable aspect, but at the end of the day it is important to remember why we are here.

i think you said all that earlier. surely as an academic you should be more prudent in what you write?

First and foremost, for the vast majority, university is about obtaining life skills. maybe you will take that course later...

Hmm, I work too, (not much, given that school runs 6 days a week 8.30am to 7.45pm, but I do what I can).

No-one is disputing your right to enjoy yourself whilst you are at uni, if you can good for you. Good for you supporting yourself.

I was merely advising you that those of us who can't afford to live the same lifestyle as you, are not boring.

There really is no need to be offensive to other posters. Manners cost nothing as they say.
