Most people have things that irritate them.

It might be posters who drag old threads up, poor grammar, punctuation, spelling, text speak, lack of paragraphs - or it might be posters who complain about posters dragging old threads up.

None of these are against the forum rules so we will just have to put up with whatever it is that irritates us, stop using the website or put people on 'ignore'.

I'm still glad I started this thread because at least I now know some legitimate reasons why people might complain. Which makes it a good deal less irritating.

It wasn't really this site where most of the annoyances were located. It was another site where people would provide links to old threads and add "Please don't necro this thread". I still don't see why the don't just lock threads if they don't want them resurrected. But that site didn't have a 'vent' thread so I thought I'd prod the problem here.
There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.

    That's good to hear, Azari.

Actually, as I said before, I think it depends on why the thread has been brought up and what's been posted.

I read a thread the other day about UGG boots, it was an old thread that some spammer had found and posted on.

But - there was some really interesting (at least to me and a couple of other posters :)) about UGG boots being a style of boot rather than a brand.

It certainly helped one lady who was going to buy some for her grand-daughter so sometimes there is value in posting on an old thread.

    But not always. ;)

    ETA
Tripadvisor lock all threads after they've been inactive for 6 months, I think that's a bit excessive.
