nationwide flex-t still the best?....

Hi i am going to estonia tallinn in a few days and need euro's, is putting the pounds into my nationwide account and withdrawing from over there going to get me the best rate?

or would it be best to just go into somewhere here and change the pounds into euros for cash?

a friend said thomas cook is offering 1.13.....is that good?

thanks

Tell 'your friend' to go to TC in order to get you 1.13 to the £. Don't waste your time with your friend's stories. Take a look

You can pre-order your cash or click on this Travelex Cash Passport Globe link. If you want a card, this is the best card in your circumstances. You can order it as late as four hours prior to pick up.

If you live in London, you can visit ICE or Thomas Exchange Global for a better rate.

Order a new card like what? You can order the card online and pick it up at Birmingham airport. No stress.

Anyway, as I wrote before.... order cash online for pick up at the airport or Thomas Cook store or order the Travelex card fro pick up at the airport or Travelex outlet.. I'm sure they have ATM machines in Tallinn. They certainly do at the airport.

Either way there is not much between them.

Links for both possibilities are in my post.

Nationwide charges 2% + £1 for overseas cash withdrawals, so 2.5% for a £200 withdrawal. (that's 2.5% based on the mid-market wholesale exchange rate). The TravelEx card is cheaper (1.5%), but you might want to just keep things simple. Nationwide is certainly not the best option these days, but not the worst either.

Nationwide is still your best bet; draw cash out from an ATM as you need it.

It's certainly cheaper than any of the bureaux at 2% on purchases and 2% +£1 on cash withdrawals.

    thanks for the replies

im not travelling from birmingham and my flight is very early so i really dont want to risk the credit card option.....too much hassle for me.

looks like there is no real poin in the nationwide thing either since i still get charged.

i will just change the cash from pounds to euro's now....

does anybody do this commision free anymore?

thomas cook is 1.10 today, not sure if thats good/competitive?

    thanks

Why do you ask the question(on a money saving website) but then not follow the advice?

I have told you what is best. If you can't be bothered, just do what you want to do then.

How does it become "your best bet" when the Travelex card is significantly cheaper?

Try to remember that this is a money saving website, not an "I can't be bothered" website.

Travelex's card exchange rates, like most prepaid cards, are all smoke and mirrors. Their normal exchange rate is pretty poor and, though they claim 1.5% for that particular card, it's hardly 'significantly' better than 2% even if true. We're probably talking about less than a fiver on the whole trip.

The fact is, the OP travels very soon and is clearly not looking for extra things to do.

The Cash Passport Globe uses the unadulterated Mastercard rate.

Extra things to do? The OP was going to the High Street anyway. Perhaps you too missed the link in the very first reply.
