Do u think i could get my bouquet and 3 bridesmaids (maybe half of third of my size bouquet) and 40 button holes for £100? Maybe if i have the bridesmaids and button holes in silk would that bring the costs down?
Many thanks again
Silk flowers aren't always necessarily cheaper - sometimes they can even be slighly more - depends on which flowers they are! Silk flowers from a flower wholesaler are usually slightly more than say Dunelm, etc but they usually are more realistic and better quality (at least the ones we get are!). Some of the ones i have seen in Dunelm are pretty poor at times - that said a few are quite good. Id say just ask the florist to quote you for both then you can decide - make sure you ask for an itemised quote rather than just an overall figure!
I think with £100 you may struggle though. Rough prices:
Brides Bouquet - £35-45
Bridesmaids - £20-30 each (based on 1/3 to 1/2 size)
I'd recommend 1/2 size.
Simple Buttonholes - £1.50each (Due to bulk buy only)
These would be very simple - 1 gerb with single greenery.
= £155 to £195
Normally the price would also depend on wether you have standard or mini size gerbs but ive just checked the online pricing and with the white (black centres) the cost price is pennys difference. It seems to be a bit cheaper with reds, oranges and pinks - not sure why though?
An idea to help cut the costs could be instead of having bouquets for the bridesmaids you could have a fancy wrist corsage. You can have them on ribbon or pearl bead bracelets. examples below!
Usually these can be done around £12.50-£25 each depending on how fancy you want them done?
(note: the two purple ones were a bit more - about £20. (For the rose, freesia and lavender due to the flowers) Both were more intricate.
The dark purple vanda orchid corsage was made completely from scratch including the curled wire, etc)
Again prices will vary person/area. Definitely get quotes from a few freelance and shops though and see who is not just cheapest but who understands what you want most!
Best of luck!

Yes it should certainly cut the costs a bit. Note i had to change the price i advised for these though. Jane looked and advised me i had my prices wrong
I told you she knows more than me!
Sorry i couldnt tell you about growing as im not a gardening person.
I think they always come in pots though - ive never seen seeds or bulbs in retail? All i know is they will never grow as straight and tall as you would get bought cut. They are grown in specific controlled conditions in Holland. They are also likely to be different species.
Hence why florists never grow their own roses

Not by september this year. you can get them in garden centres though. Beware that you will have to bring them indoors if there are frosts and white flowers tend to go brown in the rain:kisses3: Married 29th September 20120 -
Hello
Would you mind giving me a bit of general advice please?
We are struggling to come up with a colour scheme. Our reception venue is a large old hall- dark wooden tables, and dark wooden pannelling. The windows are very high up, so there is potential for the room to feel a little dark. What kind of colours/ flowers would you suggest would work best in this kind of venue? My dress is ivory/creamy coloured, so I would prefer to avoid white as I'm worried it would make my dress look dirty. We both hate pink btw!
My favourite flowers are freesias, and I was wondering about red roses. However I have spoken to a local florist who said red was a complete no no as it is too dark for the venue, and that freesias would just be "filler flowers" rather than the main flower. In the quote she gave us, she didn't even include any freesias at all as she decided they didn't match with the colour scheme she prescribed for the hall!! Have you ever used freesias as the main flower before, or is she right?
Thanks in advanceeverlastingspirit wrote: »Ok so my partner and I are local wedding florists, so id like to ask brides to be what they are having or thinking of having for their weddings.
Obviously i am interested to hear as its something we really care about but also if you have any questions you would like us to answer as professionals then please also feel free to ask!
Happy planning!!!

I found this link to a wedding/florist blog and thought these flowers were lovely and classy and light looking.
So I sent the pics to my organiser and will be getting some version of these depending on available flowers in Rhodes in September! I'll be having purple hints, rather than blue, because that's my fave colour. They are costing a small fortune because my OH wanted every man/woman and their dog to have buttonholes and corsages! And they'll probably have to import some of the flowers, even though I said not to!
It took me an age decide what style of flowers I would have! I wanted bright and colourful, then simple and classy and soft shades. Once I bought emerald green BM dresses it kind of drove me towards green and cream!
I'm sure they'll all be lovely! Eeeek.
ETA: I am NOT having the hideous centrepieces in this link.If you have nothing constructive to say just move along.0
