Ok so my partner and I are local wedding florists, so id like to ask brides to be what they are having or thinking of having for their weddings.
Obviously i am interested to hear as its something we really care about but also if you have any questions you would like us to answer as professionals then please also feel free to ask!
Happy planning!!!

Argh, I don't know!!!
We're getting hitched may 4th next year with a blue colour theme (and mild star wars theme!)
I'd like seasonal, simple flowers but I know NOTHING about anything flower-related.
You say you're a local florist but where are you local to?Gaffa tape is like the Force; It has a Dark side, a Light sideand it holds the universe together0 -
ah sorry - havent updated my profile - Local to Rugby/Coventry area.
Blue has been very popular this year. If you're looking to bring this into your colour scheme blue ribbon binding (if a hand tie) or beading/wiring or blue pins in the centre of flowers are a good way. For blue flowers they tend to be more traditional or spring flowers such as blue delphiniums, eryngium, or a good comprimise to open up more flowers are purple/blue's such as lyssi, veronica, etc. If your lucky and in season some florist wholesalers do stock bluebells for a short period.
It all depends on what flowers you want as to how best to bring the blue into your colour scheme.
Best of luck

I started off wanting blue and white as I didn't want the colour scheme to be too "matchy-matchy", I thought you can put lots of different blues together and it will look beautiful and relaxed, not too formal. We are having a really relaxed wedding in a marquee with a field and hogroast and bunting...
And then I thought: It might RAIN!
I am trying to plan everything with this in mind. So I decided that I want brighter colours so that it feels cheery even if it's pouring down!
Plan to get my flowers from a wholesaler and DIY for the tables:money:0 -
I wanted something completely different, and my colours are yellow and grey. I made my own flowers with felt and buttons. tpxsaving up another deposit as we've lost all our equity.
We're 29% of the way there...0 -
I knew nothing about fllowers, and wasn't going to bother having any, but people insisted lol! I was so surprised at how heavy bouquets are (I'm very petite and I couldn't be doing with carrying that all day!!)
I'm a fresh florists nightmare as I'm having fake foam dark red roses in a dome with diamonties in the centres of the roses and big green leaves around the outside (no idea what they are called?). The bridesmaids are having ivory roses in a wrist corsage.
The bridal party (fake) flowers are being put together by a florist, she does beautiful bouquets, but I wanted something that would last so much longer and then people could keep them as keepsakes.
I just chose by looking through albums and albums of bouquets she had made!:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

I wasnt that keen on flowers either until I met my florist. I had appointments with other shops and they were all very intent on doing what they wanted or thought would suit. My florist came ot my home spent ages talking to me about the wedding asked me my budget and then advised what they could do for that. I am having a mixed hand tied with roses, tulips, and paper roses with and my bridesmaid are having smaller versions without roses. I can recommend my florist highly enough for LISTENING to what I wanted and adapting it to suit my budget.0

Do you have any pictures? Id be interested to see these...Impet_Limpet wrote: »I just chose by looking through albums and albums of bouquets she had made!
This really is the best way. Alot of flower/wedding mags have some beautiful and extravagent arrangements but much like fashion mags people do not replicate these exactly but rather use elements and ideas into something more dare i say "normal".
Its also nice to see exactly what that florist has done and what other people chose. We find most brides choose ideas based on our portfolio rather than wedding magazines.0 -
I am having a bouquet of 9 calla lilly stems with blue shimmer dust around the outside of the petal.
my colour is a really bright royal blue, we are getting married in october so thought that something bright might be nice
oh yeh and the BMs get 3 stems each and FG gets 1 short stem
Fresh flowers were WAY over my budget but have found a lovely person who is doing all my arty wedding stuff (by thias i mean flowers, invites STD, Chair covers everything ) so its is all goooooooooooooooooooooooodThe only people I have to answer to are my beautiful babies aged 8 and 50 -

Ben, could you give me an idea of costings for these things please? I want to get a florist to do me:
3 bouquets for me and the bridesmaids, sort of meadowy type flowers, no roses
3 pomanders to hang from the archway
and maybe 5 meadowy type buttonholes
What do you think is a fair price for these?
Thanks!:cool:0 -
I wanted white anemones but apparently they're quite rare for July and we're on a small budget so I'm going with white roses instead. Bridesmaids are having smaller bouquets of red roses.0
