Ok so my partner and I are local wedding florists, so id like to ask brides to be what they are having or thinking of having for their weddings.

Obviously i am interested to hear as its something we really care about but also if you have any questions you would like us to answer as professionals then please also feel free to ask!

    Happy planning!!!
    Ben

I had fuschia pink gerberas with black eye (some had diamonte centres) with a few white stephantois through it. With dark leaves around the outside. Bridesmaids had fushcia and pale pink gerberas with cream eye. We all had pink ribbon around the open stems. Button holes were fuschia gerberas and my husband had some foliage and a whie stephanotis on his too. Flowergoirl had a want arapped in ribbon with fuschia gerbera on it.
I have fallen head over heels in love with GERBERA'S. I didnt even know what a gerbera was in January - now i MUST HAVE THEM.

My theme is pale blue - and they dont come in blue, so have thought of floristry paint. Now i think that is a bit cruel - whether they are silk or real??

Might have to resort to white gerbera real ones for me (with pale blue hand tied ribbon) and silk for the 3 bridesmaids. Havent seen any i like though - i want them neat and without the yellow bit showing in the middle.

Also want white gerbera button holes and as for tables - arghhhhhhhhh!

I am getting no where at all.

    Any help/advice HUGELY appreciated.

I may be stoned for asking but why is it cruel to paint flowers when they will die anyway? If you dont go down this route maybe go with white but have a blue ribbon around the stems and some tiny blue floers through the bouquet? x

Jane & I have done some gerbera weddings recently. Im not at home at the moment (where all the pictures are on the pc) but when i am i will post some pics of one we did in a neat dome shape - althought this was red and slightly more rounded it should give you the picture. I think there are some buttonhole and pew end pics too.

We havent done any gerberas with blue binding but ill post some of the other flowers we have done with blue binding to give you a bit of an idea too.

In terms of the yellow middle, not all gerberas have this. You should be able to chose the middles in either black or occasionally other colours (such as yellow). We generally order the black instead as it looks quite good with the white gerbs!

However one bit of honest advice - stay well clear of so called 'florist paint'. Any un-natural blue flowers (ie: blue roses) are dyed through water intake. Even then its not recommended unless supplied already dyed by a flower wholesaler as DYI attemtps often end up blotchy or not completely dyed - we've tried several times 'for fun'.

Personally i think white with blue accesories will look the best!

I would love to have Lilly of the valley in my boquet unfortunately I definately can't afford this. I wanted to ask if it was possible to mix fake or silk flowers in a boquet with real. And whether this would look tacky?

    Bridal Hand Tied

Ivory Roses with Gypsophilia and foliage collar

Ivory Satin ribbon handle secured with pearl pins

diamante pins in each of the roses (approx 25 roses)

£40.00 A work colleague knew of a woman who does flowersin her spare time.

Buttonholes are matching Ivory roses with diamante but artifical 19 single 1 double inc postage £23 off ebay. They are beautiful, im really really pleased.

TBH Im from the midlands too, shopped around and some shops are asking silly money, really can't understand why. I've been told I could only have a crysanthamum bouquet for £50. Button holes cheapest were 85p for a crysanthamum and £1.35 for a rose. That really was the cheapest I could find in Coventry.

Bare in mind a florist should be in the business for the passion they have for flowers but ultimately its still a business and you still have to earn a living. Don't forget its not just the rpice of the flowrs but also your time, insurance, consultations, petrol (lots of trips) a£omgst other running costs. Then you still have to turn a profit and make it worth it. Therefore ultimately a frined doing it or diy will always be much cheaper but you are paying a florsit for their skill and the points I think I listed before that are the positives.

Againa I don't mind people doing diy at all but florists still have to charge and make aliving.
For your info a bouquet in coventry/rugby should be between 40 to 100 depending and flowers, season, intricasy of detail, etc. You should get a simple gerbera hand tie for around 50 depending.. With detailing and the more time involve then will b a bit more.

Sry for spelling - on blackberry

I know florists have their overheads and are running a buisness and best of luck to you and your company.

I had a budget to work to. I called and emailed approximately 10 florists in Leamington and Coventry.
Cheapest quoted £90 + for my bouquet and cheapest button holes £1.35 for roses.

I was looking for a basic wedding package for smaller weddings. But couldn't get one.

EG: 1 xBrides Bouquet, 1 xGrooms button hole and 25 x guest button holes and have set prices for the package depending on flowers.

    £100 Roses
    £90 Crysanth's
    etc
    Extra button holes additional £...

I found it quite flustrating getting prices. All I wanted was a basic package and no one seemed to offer that.
Also personally I prefer the online shops with prices.

    All the best :-)
