Ask them to take photos of the damage. The postage and packaging refers to postal fee and also wrapping fee, material and also TIME! Return for an exchange. Never give away to suckers like this kind, which try to abuse the system

This will happen with UK buyers as well Im afraid.
Some people on eBay are taking money saving to the extreme, claiming damages, or even not recieved item to get their money back AND keep the item.
I have a blog where I talk about the best way to protect you and your ebay selling activities which is a totally free information site.
Google sellingguru, its a dot info site, and its UK based so ideal for UK ebayers!0 -

They have sent through photos of the damage. You cannot expect someone to pay top price for a damaged item, or quite honestly to return an item from the US. When it's clear that it's damaged, ok it may be a small dent but collectors want things that are perfect.
The OP has done the right thing, refunded after seeing the pictures.
The moral of this story is to ensure that your packaging is fit for purpose. That way your items are more likely to get to the buyer undamaged.0 -
It's annoying when this happens. But you just have to factor it into your business plan, don't take it personally and carry on. By trading on eBay, you're going to get awkward transactions from time to time.0

As a very occasional ebay seller, I look at the stats on any bidders looking likely to buy, close to the auction end-time. If one looks like they're a 'difficult customer' i.e. always leaving negatives, complaints and being unrealistic, then I block them from bidding. Nobody has that much bad luck! You're perfectly entitled to do this, and not give a reason, and it can put your mind at rest. Also, you won't have to deal with a bonkers buyer.
So my advice is: check out your bidders - I realise that this isn't possible if you have a lot of items listed, but is manageable for small amounts0 -
The down side of what Belisama suggests, is that the bad bidder may not have been going to win anyway, and you've drastically dropped the end price that your item could achieve. Although, reading it again you can't see who's 'likely to buy' can you? All you can do is see who's bid already, cancel their bids, and block them from placing further bids.0

OP could say that after the listing ended the bidder expressly asked for the contents to be removed for import purposes0
