Whats not so simple is that the licencing authority try and stitch you up. When faced with all sorts of `possible` punishments on the doorstep many will give in.0

Wouldn't necessarily recommennd the monitor route myself as who knows what you'll want to do in future.
However as for the online ambiguity wasn;t there a site sonewhere dedicated to streaming certain shows/events with a 5 second delay purely to get round the 'not live' TV license restriction
The monitor route i used was perfectly good for my needs. I did it so I could play games consoles without paying a TV license. I had a spare old monitor at my parents to do it with though and bought a RCA to VGA converter. It would be easier nowadays since they put hdmi on monitors so it's all there ready to be plugged in*sarcastic mode on * Yes because at uni all you do is work and sleep *sarcastic mode off*
Exactly, I had a TV in my second and third year but the license was split 7 ways, the monitor route was just while we was in halls so I could still unwind with some gaming and my consoles didn't go to waste, £120 bought me a lot of books and even more beer to make the year pass faster0
