How to request a sub-board on MSE?

I've just realised that we have an influx of new members from another forum and that it's you lot demanding what equates to your own board after a few posts. Are you planning on staying then? Because, frankly, I won't be happy if you lot disappear back off to where you came from and leave us lot with two boards to contend with.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Fair point, but OP isn't one of the defectors from the other forum, and we (three of us including me) were just supporting the idea, not 'demanding' it.
My language, agreed, was too strong. I'm probably being overprotective, but my forum manners wouldn't allow me to start making suggestions on what would be more suitable for me after a few days of membership or more active participation. I'm not against a new board, I do have reservations about it though; we too have a community on this board, albeit evidently not with as much banter as yours, that would be a shame to split into two. We've been split once already and I miss learning some of the things that I learned when things crossed more. I don't miss the lunatics though!
You're welcome here, please don't get me wrong. I have read and posted on LLZ myself and the resource that people provide there is valuable.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The Debate House Prices & the Economy Board
It's because of the opposing factions i.e. House price crash v House prices rising through the roof :rotfl:When it was given it's own board (several years ago) there was plenty of good banter, now it descends to WWIII on a regular basis - hence why it's hidden!0 -
For your information, I have had a PM from MSE in response to my request to consider the sub boards. They say (very politely) that there are already too many sub boards on MSE, so they are unlikely to create another.I'm not a lawyer, so this is just my opinion. Don't go acting on legal advice you get from a stranger on the internet!0

At least they said it politely and got back to you quickly.:)0 -

I think it means that you can only see it if you sign in.0 -

If you put a thread like that into either board or the other, I suspect you'd get a different consensus from each board, yet you shouldn't post the same question in two boards. Also long leasehold, where does that sit - the law is Landlord/Tenant Law but only really applies to owner occupiers. The idea of three boards is bonkers, btw.
I'm also worried that rather than attracting 'experts' you would dilute it. I do buying and selling, but I've learned an awful lot from this board on the renting side - because they are together - so sometimes when it's quiet, which it can be, and I know the answer, I will post. Or I will ask some more questions so that the people who really know have the right kind of info when they get to the thread. And I am sure there are people who do the same from the other side, who have value to add - I don't know if they would cross over both. I won't bother with the renting board, tbh.
I like it fast, I can see from the highlighting where I last left off and I can pick and choose by hovering over thread titles. If the board feels quiet, I can lose interest.
If the forums are split I do think the quality of answers would go down, plus we'd get more duplicate threads, already we have enough duplication with the same posts here and on the mortgages forum, the number of times I've answered here and found the same thing over there making mine a waste of time. If that happened between renting and selling I think people would be less inclined to answer either.
Landlordzone does the more specialised forum really well, I hope it continues to do so
And it's nice to see some of you answering over here as well :wave:0 -
Agreed. I'm really here for the buying and selling but occasionally answer on renting in some areas having done the research when I've wanted answers in the past.
Now that's interesting because I was going to put names into my first post of people who I thought I would miss when they went wandering off to the renting board which I subsequently deleted, and yours was on that list! That being because I think your landlord/tenant posts are very knowledgeable!
Anyone else fancy a love in?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
