So is there a way to request a sub board, or do we first have to demonstrate the demand? It seems around 50/50 to me at the moment from the responses.

I am afraid that I can't answer your question, but I do support your suggestion. :)

i think after only 13 posts it's tough to say what 'most' people would want, but i'd guess the site feedback forum would be the best place to draw attention to it with those in charge.

Would we not need one for

Yes and one for renting but now want to buy and then there's the asking should I sell and buy again or sell and rent? Or the my landlord is selling can I buy it, what about the landlord getting repossessed, that's sort of selling. Oh what about tenants renting a flat asking questions about the landlord's long lease :)

Yes - I quite see that I'm the new kid on the block here. But I do use other forums and have found this board a little overwhelming with such a broad cross section of topics. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes.... ?

Most boards on here which currently (ie 2pm on a Wednesday) have over 100 people viewing, are split into between 2 and 6 sub-sections. This board has 300 viewing right now, but only 1 section.

On a positive note, I find the people here far more friendly than other boards and less condescending (melancholly's post [above] was perhaps a little condescending, but I am being a bit of a young upstart!). So I'd like to stick around if you'll have me.

Thanks for the pointer - I will try and suggest it to see what the response is.

Concentrating the house buying and sellng threads into one place would encourage the housepricecrash reply bots and you'd be making it really easy for them to influence the tone of the entire board to get their message out to the public!

Of course then, the other side would inevitably retaliate and it would be the debate house prices board all over again with the poor people trying to buy and sell finding themselves caught in the crossfire just like the bad old days before the separate board was created.

it wasn't meant to be condescending, just my opinion that it's too early to say what 'most' people on board would think, since very few had commented. given how many threads start on here each day (hence your request!), the 'sample size' here seems small to me ;)

it was actually intended to be helpful.... shows how the written word can be read so differently i guess. i'd go with always assuming the best interpretation until more evidence is given to the contrary. a lot of offence can be taken (anywhere - not just here!) without any being knowingly intended!

The Debate House Prices & the Economy Board
wasn't it because almost every thread on someone trying to sell or buy was hijacked into an arguement about excessive house prices causing the recession or something similar?! (i'm more than slightly paraphrasing, but it has kept the somewhat lively discussion away from requests for help/information)

I'm a landlordzone refugee, and it has a separate board for residential lettings, so I was quite surprised to find the topic merged in with buying/selling here. I can't really see much overlap. And I agree with OP that it's such a fast moving board that I'd rather not have to plough through pages of threads to find ones relating to lettings.

But I'm a newbie so not complaining! It's nice it's such a busy board.
