On looking through the O2 blog i can't understand what the issue is. For reasons outside of their control the O2 network is down, be it only in a few areas. People are demanding compensation!!!!

Not far off every post goes on about how they can't contact their friends and family and what would happen if something was wrong. All i could ask is what would you do if mobile phones hadn't been invented? How about call from a landline, send an email or contact people through social netwroing?

There are also people saying that they need their phones for business use and as such are missing calls from customers. Have they not thought about putting info up on their website to say that their phone is out of action and to make contact in another way, again landlines and email.

OH works for o2 and said they have been battered with calls but is really annoyed. They (o2) found out about the problem at 3am, they didn't release press notes till 10am and the agents did not get told until 1pm, they were not given any time scales to give to customers either.

Strange...my OH works for Tesco Mobile support (I'm sure we all know they use O2), and when he got to work at 8am this morning, he had an email advising them of the outage.

While I agree with your post I would have to say what about people that only have a mobile? I know plenty of people that do not have house phones, and in our area most of the pay phones have been removed bar odd ones which are miles away! Also some people rely on their phone for the internet access so if that's down they may not be able to do email etc. It's scary just how dependant we have become on mobiles and how much it "ruins our life" when its down!

Other half had plenty of "I want compensating calls", so he worked out a pro-rated amount type thing and most got about 50p :p

Hmmm that is strange , perhaps they were just slow at his call centre. It was on the email though that they didn't tell people until 10 so no idea how yours found out at 8 though I bet it made his job that little bit easier knowing what was happening.

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)
