We've got a problem that means you can't make calls, use the internet, or send/get texts and emails in parts of East London, North London, east Sussex and Kent. Sorry, the post code check won't show this problem.0

O2 is broken in parts of London and the south east.http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/05/17/o2_outage/:
O2's network is suffering outages around the capital and the southeast, with customers unable to make calls, or connect to data services, since just after midnight.
The outage seems to be knocking out connectivity in North and East London as well as Sussex and Kent, and started just before one o'clock this morning. Some customers report being able to get data connections, even when voice disappears entirely, but many users of O2's network and its MVNOs are off the net entirely.0 -

17 May O2 network issues update
There’s currently an issue on our network in parts of East London, North London, Kent and East Sussex. Here’s the latest on what’s happened and what we’re doing to fix it.
What has happened?
There has been theft and vandalism at one of our operations sites in East London and, as a result, customers in East London, North London, Kent and Sussex may be experiencing problems making or receiving calls, texts or data. How are you fixing this?
Our engineers are on site now working to replace the stolen equipment and repair the vandalism.
How long will it take you?
At the moment there is no estimated time for this to be fixed, however we’re working on getting our network up and running as soon as possible and expect it to be today.
We’ll update this post as soon as the situation changes.
When did this happen?
We discovered the problem in the early hours of this morning. Our engineers were on site as soon as possible. Once we discovered that there had been a theft, we made the site secure and informed the police.
How secure was the site?
This was a well organised theft which targeted this operations site. We have the full support of the police in investigating this incident.
Do you have backup plans?
We have extensive continuity plans which we are bringing into effect now. The nature of this theft has prevented us from restoring service immediately but we expect to do so today.
What are you doing to make sure this doesn’t happen again?
It’s too early to draw any conclusions but we will be conducting a thorough investigation into how this happened.
I’m not in one of those areas but I’m having issues. What about me?
Please contact our Customer Service team who’ll be able to investigate what’s happening. You can also use our status checker at http://status.o2.co.uk.
Where can I go for more information?
We’ll update this blog post with more information as the situation develops.0 -
Due to an act of theft and vandalism we're having an issue on our network. Sorry if you've been affected by this - we've added some frequently asked questions on our blog and hope to get this fixed as soon as possible.

OH works for o2 and said they have been battered with calls but is really annoyed. They (o2) found out about the problem at 3am, they didn't release press notes till 10am and the agents did not get told until 1pm, they were not given any time scales to give to customers either.
He's had a torrent of abuse from several customers too bless him, good job he can handle it!
He said it may only be up temporarily so don't be too surprised if you get a loss of service again.
Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end0
