It is for the very same reason why it is illegal to have a blue light on your car. Many chav boy ravers get done for things like that.
As I said earlier, several cyclist and horse riders have had their jackets confiscated and they were warned if they were caught again they would be prosecuted. The police do take these things quite seriously.
Then they were confiscated unlawfully and the Police did not act within their powers, if this actually took place and is not urban legend they should complain and ask they be returned or compensated for the loss.
There is no legal standing for seizure in these circumstances.0 -

:wall: :wall:
They were not confiscated unlawfully.
They were deliberately designed to give the impression that the wearer was a police officer (I believe the term is "calculating to deceive"). Is that legal? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

The Police have specific powers of confiscation and seizure, I know what they are and obviously you do not. If you consider you know please quote which power was used along with the Act and and Section.0 -

Seeing as you know what they are, why don't you tell us?
But then, how about answering my question? Is it legal to wear something that is specifically designed to give the impression that the wearer is a police officer? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I suppose this is illegal too
As seen outside homes and driveways across the country“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Not liking something you think is illegal does not make it illegal.0 -

It would depend on the intention, I suppose. As it is a sign, it may also depend on the size, colour and font used. But then, to be honest, this is not the usual sign seen outside homes and driveways across the country, I have never seen one like the one shown here. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

Still avoiding the question then. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

But it is clear they are not a police officer - it says 'POLITE' instead of 'POLICE' if you hadn't noticed.
What about someone sitting in their Vectra by the side of the road in normal clothes (plain clothes!) - are they 'impersonating' a plain-clothes officer, no.0
