I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED MARKING!!! Woooohooooo!

I have got all 256 papers (including 256 essays in French) marked, and submitted the marks intime, I am so happy I could cry!

Back to my normal life now!

Had a lovely weekend, MIL and her friend were ace, really helped me this time (un like the time before!), and the baby has had a lovely time, doing lots of different things, and out all the time.

When I met them in town to bring them home, I bought a photo frame with vouchers I had, for a family fiftith birthday present. I bought an original watercolour by a scottish artist on ebay for £13, and it looks absolutley gorgeous in the frame with the mount.

Tonight I need to get organised for tomorrow, and I am going to have a bubble bath to chill out - all I have done for the last few weeks is work.

Tomorrow I need to submit my expenses, contact a new tutoring client to confirm she is coming on Thursday, and cook some baby food, I have given the baby 14 jars recently, and its really so much cheaper to make the food myself. I also want to do a meal plan and make it through another week witha top up shop - we managed this week with a top up of bread, fruit, milk and icecream!!

Hope everyone has had a great weekend, and I'm so looking forward to catching up with everyones diaries tomorrow!

    Thanks,

I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I really don't think I'll be doing it next year, with a toddler in tow... it is really all consuming.

In lunch duty now, so I will ponder how to get back into saving mode.

Yes. It feels kind of strange not having something that I should be doing all the time!

Well another big thing that has kept me busy at work is over now, with a reasonable outcome I feel. I know just have to use my time at work before the end of term to relax, and get organised for next year.

My battle with the nursery over July has started!!:eek:

I pay £637 per month, and as agreed when he started, I only pay up to the fifteenth of the month for July. They want to charge me £419 for July up until the 15th of July, which is 3 weeks, because the 1st of July was on a Friday, and therefore they say there is 5 weeks in July. The nursery was closed on the 1st of July as well.

I have paid £637 dived by 2 as this is half a months payment. If you work it out on a weekly basis he has only actually attended 2 weeks in July so I think I have even overpaid!! I have now got a letter saying that I owe £101. I don't think I do!

I am not sure how to play this now!

    Do I
    a) going in and see the finance office and appeal to their common sense.
    b) do nothing and see what happens
    c) Write a letter saying I think they have made an error and see if they just rectify it.
    d) write an 'all guns blazing' letter explaining why it is ridiculous to charge me for 3 weeks.

At the moment I am thinking of waiting to see what happens until the baby has finished there.

What do you think? any other suggestions? Please help!

Hi earthgirl, that sounds like a bit of a nightmare with the nursery. Personally i think they have a cheek to ask for that much money especially since they werent open on the 1st of july.......their system seems ridiculous to me.
Am i right in thinking that your little one is only going to this nursery for another few weeks and then somwhere else for next year. If that is the case i wouldnt pay the money. I think they will try their best to get the money off you as they now you are finishing with them in a few weeks anyway and arent too worried if they P**s you off . I would probably write a letter to try and stall things for a week or two until DS finishes with them.
I dont have any experience with nurserys though as my little ones are looked after by my sister in law.
Well done on the marking :j

Blinking ridiculous. Personally I would probably write, just to get it off my chest, but a step or two below all guns blazing. That gives them the chance to be reasonable. If they write back, then you will be gone and it doesn't really matter what they think. I'm sure there will be a lot of other parents who use them who think the system is ridiculous. They offered you 2 weeks care, and you are paying for 2 weeks care. They were unable to provide 3 weeks, so why do they think they can charge for it?

Again, I did not use a nursery, but a childminder. Others who've used a nursery might be able to comment better.

  • Hey earthgirl
well done on finishing marking!! :)
No ideas re: the nursery over and above what others have said- given it is financial I would probably write, but not in an all guns blazing way but just as I think letters seem more formal/potentially have more impact...
Hope little earthlet is now okay, how scary for you all with the health problems....hope they can figure it out soon, does sound similar to the toddler type "Ill show you" holding breath reaction, but very scary and sure itll help for the medical people to figure out properly
ps just to say once again your totals of savings/OPs amaze me they are fantastic!! You must share your secret as you have managed to pay a similar amount to what we owe so quickly! I know you do a lot of other things on the side of your main job like tutoring is it all from that and salaries or other things Ive missed? Any MF tips thrown out our way much appreciated ;)

Yep, its mainly getting extra income and not spending a penny on things I don't need to!

In fact I was just thinking today how it pays to be patient when you want or need something! My watch strap was broken but I have managed to fix it quite well with a few layers of superglue on top if each other. And I also recently wanted a baby walker, and asked around and eventually got a great one for free, when I was so tempted to get one off ebay or even worse get a new one /(they are so expensive!!)

Right off to phrase my letter for nursery.
