Our local MP, Frank Dobson, certainly used to live in a council flat opposite the British Museum. I presume he still does.

Please tell me you haven't got a straight face whilst posting that.

I, like you, am a bit of a (Champagne) socialist. However, I don't consider myself 'right-on' or 'with-it' so quoting Nietzsche, Adorno et al. whilst using Dappy from N'Dubz as a shining beacon of chavdom seems ironic to say the least.

I don't like champagne and I'm not a socialist. Does engaging with philosophical thought preclude you from listening to n dubz? Shoulda put something on is a work of lyrical genius and very much embodies the gendered chav conflict.

Although I have to agree with Adorno that Beethoven's symphonic works are structurally more revolutionary.

And through choice, as opposed to those with disabilities etc. Back to the moral argument regarding deserving or not.

People with disabilities "make a negligible (if that) contribution to society"?????

What kind of sick, backward thinking attitude is THAT???

Its the only fair way - you can't go turfing people out of their homes after 30 years just to free it up - its simply immoral.

Unfortunately this is accepted practice in the private rented sector. Muppet landlords decide on a whim to sell the house and turf the tennants out with 1 or 2 months notice. It is very tough on people, particularly families with children. It would a good idea to sort out the shambles in the private rented sector before people get too indignant about social housing.

It looks like you have twisted what the poster has said so that you look good and they look bad.

I know exactly what they mean from what they have written, so i know that they dont mean that people with disabilities dont make any contribution to society.

From what you have quoted it looks bad but if you read it in context the poster hasnt directly said that people with disabilities do not contribute.

From what they have written i found it quite easy to figure out that they meant that chavs choose not to contribute to society even though they are perfectly capable of doing so and people with disabilities that stop them from working would like to work but cant due to being disabled.

Its quite easy to understand what the poster meant when they written that post.

As usual you are going round the boards twisting what people say.

Only you has a problem with that post so i assume everbody else understood what the poster meant.

    Why is that.

So the only way disabled people can contribute towards society is through work?

OK. What about disabled people who choose not to work. Which pigeon-hole in your deranged mind would they fit into?

Are you just hoping what you have said will be hidden when the thread moves to the next page, not long to go now:)

I was hoping to get an answer. Again.... What about disabled people who choose not to work. Which pigeon-hole in your deranged mind would they fit into?
