Actually, on second thoughts its not so much that people got houses they didn't deserve that bothers me the most. Its that they get them next to hard working people, when my estate was built in 2005 it had 11 houses out of 50 allocated to social housing, our next door neighbours do not work and are complete !!!!!!s. There is a very clear divide between respectable, approachable people who will put your bin out if you forget or take a parcel for you and others who look at you like your scum, throw cigarette stubs and stuff into our garden.

If the government deems it a good idea in their infinit wisdom to house these parasites then the least they could do is keep them away from those of us who choose to provide for ourselves. This is probable my only motivation for moving up the property ladder, the hope that one day I will be in an estate that is too expensive for these type of people.

I think a "wrath" of problems is a collective noun for a group of angry disadvantaged people on a sink estate.

they should 100% be means tested. some of the people in the HA near me have convertable cars, are going on holidays abroad - meanwhile the decent people are struggling to make ends meet. most people could have decent cars and holidays if the council subsidised their rent/mortgage payments.

SCUM OUT - Decent people in!

are you available for employment as a desiribility index assessment officer? the council is hiring and it pays £40k. i think you'd be perfect for the role.

I suspect our equine friend would do this for fun in the evenings.

I was just wondering if the allocation of housing could be used as a method of encouraging better behaviour. It does seem to encourage bad behaviour in it's current methods.

would you include the children (under 5s?) in this moral judgment thingy? after all, they live in the housing too.

perhaps we could extend social responsibility criteria to all elements of state provision. only people who brush their teeth twice a day get triple heart bypass operations. only people who used birth control or abstain from sexual intercourse get to use public parks.

how much time and effort do we spend assessing the moral fortitude of applicants? do we take mental illness /periods of depression / severe life experiences into consideration? or is it a multiple choice questionnaire administered by the daily mail?

this has got to be the most ridiculous thread i've seen in a while.

parental choice in education gives us a prime example of what happens when you try to put worthiness into a system of state provision.

instead of making people fight tooth and nail for who is more deserving of the resources how about putting more housing stock into state / social housing hands. i'm sure a few btl landlords are desperate to offload some of their stock at the moment.

what exactly is socially irresponsible about a chav? wearing burberry and d&g without adequate luxury lifestyle to justify it perhaps?

Bring back the undeserving and deserving poor idea. With associated rewards. It could improve the whole of society no end.

The chav is socially irresponsible because they make a negligible (if that) contribution to society.
