How about Pisa.... You could also visit Lucca from there... the walls are lovely and I m pretty sure you can hire a bike and put him on the seat behind you.... The Italians love children and will keep him entertained while you eat your dinner.
Failing that my Spanish city of choice would be Valencia... open spaces , easy trip to the beach and the Oceanarium he will love and so will you... You can prebook your tickets on line for a discount. If you choose your hotel carefully here you chould be able to get one with a pool which no doubt he will love to splash about in...
BTW I don t know what it is at the moment but far too many people are griping on these forums... no one makes you read or reply..
