Anything like an MX5?

Had an MX5 a few years back and loved the car. It was nippy but I also liked the direct steering, rear-wheel drive, pleasant gearbox, reliability and low running costs. In the end, it went because the wife complained about getting a bad back and the boot space would only house a box of tissues. Is there a similarly-priced car that would give such a fun driving experience but with a bigger boot? Could spend £7-9,000.

I would say no, all cars of the same ilk are about the same size and the MX5 is considered the best of the bunch.
I don't think you will have much success to be honest.0 -
If you don't mind the high running costs how about a Honda S2000.0

Nissan Silvia Varietta?

Import only though.0 -
To be honest all cars of this type will have a small boot just by the nature of what they are. I don't think 'MX5ish' and 'load space' are very compatible bedfellows to be honest.

Don't see many about. Honda reliability but does it have a decent boot?Je suis sabot...0 -
I know A4 convertible boots are not too bad a size - but they aren't quite a 2 seater car either. I think it was Jeremy Clarkson that said that any passenger sitting in the back would look like Hitler. :rotfl:0

Not if you're a golfer, what do you need to carry?0 -
Does it have to be a convertible, or is it more the fun and reliability you're bothered about?0

Your box of tissues must be big. We managed a 2 week camping holiday in a MX-5, we did have a boot rack.
How about a BMW 3 Series convertible? But is the soft top bit important?0 -
