I'm sure at some point I will get that type of buyer, so far I have been lucky but then I only sell personal bits & pieces. If it aint broke don't fix it, it's worked for me until now.
I won't leave FB for a seller unless they leave for me first, after all it is only sellers who really need FB.

If you have bought something, and you are happy with the product, and the service you received, then it is only fair to leave feedback.

From a sellers point of view the transaction shouldn't be complete until the buyer is happy, and has left feedback. So they can't rate the buyer until that time.

When a seller marks your item as dispatched what does this mean.
It means that they have ticked a box in the Seller's section on the eBay web site that says that the item has been dispatched - no more and no less.

They may have already posted it, or they may be a scammer who has no intention of ever sending it to you; you have no way of knowing.

There is more to being a good buyer than simply paying IMO. A buyer paid me within minutes and then went on to email me the next day asking why she had not received her item. I explained it had been posted (within 8 hours of her payment being received) but as she had selected second class post it would be a couple of days for delivery. She then emailed me 4 times the following day. When she did receive the item (a whole 3 days after buying it) she left me a neutral stating it was slow delivery!!

I can do better than that. Guy bought a laptop off me on BIN at 00:05hrs this Saturday morning. At 08:10 I get a phone call interrupting the one lie in a week I have telling me he's come to pick it up on the off chance I was in (120 mile round trip) and he is 10 minutes away - I'd not said I was or had any idea he'd even bought it. Told him I was still in bed. No apology, nothing. Still, one laptop less to sell I suppose.

I would never leave feedback until after the buyer has, as they could turn out to be the worst customer in the world.

And as a buyer, I wouldn't leave you feedback until you had. Stalemate
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

if you print the postage label through paypal it will mark the item as dispatched in ebay
if you send items recorded delivery and add the ref number against the item in paypal it will add the number in ebay and mark the item as dispatached

That's rediculous, because for a buyer the transaction is complete once they have had delivery, and are happy with the product. For a seller the transaction isn't over just because an item has been posted. It is only over once the customer is happy with their purchase. So for both the buyer and seller they should leave feedback on the whole experience. The seller only knows if the buyer has had a good overall experience once they have left their feedback.

You do know that a seller can't leave a negative feedback any more don't you?

I've been leaving fb when the buyer has paid. If anything happens after that I can always comment on the feedback left for me, if any. I'm still waiting for some :(

    I generally do the following:

    1. I leave feedback once the buyer has paid and I've packed the item (it also serves as a check for me that I've packed it).
    2. I mark the item as despatched when I get home from the post office and send the buyer a message telling them that it's done.

I'm not sure why, but it annoys me when a seller doesn't mark an item as despatched after I've bought it. They tend to lose a 'comms' star from me if they don't.
