Due to the shortcomings of Ebay, it can mean various things depending on the seller. As ebay doesn't have a 'delivery planned' notification, then some sellers will send an item dispatched message once delivery has been planned. Although others will only use it once items have been posted. It is really just a way of letting customers know when they are likely to receive an item.

If I do the postage via Paypal then eBay will automatically mark it as "dispatched".
  • I mark as dispatched when I return from the Post Office.

The same here, I also message the seller saying that it has been posted & thanking them for their payment etc.
    I also then leave feedback.

I would never leave feedback until after the buyer has, as they could turn out to be the worst customer in the world.

No right or wrong way but as a seller I can only give fb on the payment really, either a pos for fast payment or none for having to be reminded. In nearly 1000 transactions I've only had a couple of problems with buyers. Touch wood, fingers crossed, etc.

There is more to being a good buyer than simply paying IMO. A buyer paid me within minutes and then went on to email me the next day asking why she had not received her item. I explained it had been posted (within 8 hours of her payment being received) but as she had selected second class post it would be a couple of days for delivery. She then emailed me 4 times the following day. When she did receive the item (a whole 3 days after buying it) she left me a neutral stating it was slow delivery!!

Unfortunately you can also get the odd impossible customer. It doesn't matter how much you bend over backwards for them, they will still complain about something.
